Chapter 1251
Married at First Sight
âEven if you give me grass, Iâll like it as long as itâs from you.â
Serenity said playfully, âWeâre going to your villa tonight. When we get back, Iâll go to the backyard and cut a handful of grass for you.â
Zachary pinched her pretty nose indulgently.
If she dared give him grass, then he would accept it.
He was telling the truth. He would like anything as long as it was from her.
On the way to Spring Blossoms, Zachary suddenly said, âSerenity, come with me to a banquet hosted by the Marshalls in a couple of days. The venue is at Wiltspoon Hotel.â
Serenity looked at him and smiled. âHow rare for the great Mr. York to attend a banquet. I heard that Mr. York never joins banquets. They must be very close to the York family if they were able to invite you.â
Zachary flicked her forehead and corrected her, âThe York family is also your family. Youâre my wife. In the future, you donât have to listen to other people. If you have any questions, just ask your man directly.
âThe host is the Marshall family. Old Mr. Marshall is revered in Wiltspoonâs business world. He holds a business party at Wiltspoon Hotel once a year and invites everyone from the business world in the city to join.
âItâs both an exchange and an opportunity for small companies to land big business deals that they otherwise wouldnât have the chance to. The Marshall and York families have known each other for a long time and have a close relationship.
âThey are involved in a wide range of businesses in Wiltspoon, but the family keeps a low profile. The York family stands at the forefront and deflected a lot of attention that would otherwise go to the Marshalls. The wife of the current head of the Marshall family is bosom friends with my mom.
âDo you remember last year when the Marshalls held a banquet in October when we just got married?
Ms. Sox and you attended with Mrs. Lowe. You also told me about some gossip when you came home after the banquet.â
Zachary leaned into Serenityâs ear and lowered his voice to utter, âBack then, you said I was either gay or couldnât get it up. Now, you know what Iâm like, right?â
Serenity quickly pushed him away.
At that time, she did not know that her husband was the heir of the York family. She heard. everyone gossip about him and felt that he was not normal, so she casually said a few words to her husband.
Unexpectedly, he still remembered what she said.
It was no wonder he acted like a wolf every time since they became a real couple. It was to prove that he was nothing but capable.
âThe banquet is in two days?â Serenity asked.
âYeah, Sunday night.â
It was Saturday tomorrow.
She said, âMost people choose to hold banquets on Fridays or Saturdays so they can rest the next day.
Why did the Marshalls opt for Sunday night to host their banquet?â
Zachary smiled. âThe purpose of business parties is to talk about business. If they discuss a deal on Sunday night, theyâll be able to take action the next day when they go back to work. Isnât that better?
You can also pull in some business for the project you and Elisa had just started.
âYou said you donât need my help, so Iâll let you handle the talks. Iâll just watch from the side.â
She refused his help, so he would not lend a hand and just watch by the sidelines.
If she needed his assistance, all she had to do was say the word and he would step in immediately.
âOh, right. Will Elisa be joining too?â
Zachary thought for a moment before saying, âIn the past, Clive wouldnât turn up early if I appeared at Old Mr. Marshallâs banquet. Heâll only show up when I leave. We donât see eye- toâeye, so itâll be troublesome for the Marshalls if we get into a conflict.
âThatâs why Clive and I never attend at the same time. When other families host banquets, theyâll invite me or Clive, but never both of us. Itâs to prevent us from meeting.â
Serenity paused before saying, âIâve never seen you two fighting beforeâ¦â
Maybe it was because she had not really set foot in the business world. Even if she did, her investment project was different from the ones that York Corporation and Stone Group did, so she still would not understand.
âNow, for your sake, our fights wonât turn out too ugly.â
Zachary took her by the shoulder and pressed her head against his shoulder. âSeren, Iâll value the people you care about.â
âThank you.â
Serenity hugged him back, feeling touched.
âJasmine and Mr. Buchamâs engagement party should be in March. Iâll be attending a lot of banquets this month. Many people are getting married after the new year.â
