Chapter 1264
Married at First Sight
Sonny recalled Jessicaâs and his momâs explanation, but he still could not fully understand the meaning of his momâs words. He tilted his head and asked, âDunc, are you married?â
âNo, I donât have a spouse, so Iâm not married.â
âWhy donât you have a spouse?â
âBecause I donât have a woman I like.â
Sonny blinked and asked curiously, âYou donât like my mom? Also, my Aunt Ser and Aunt Elisa are very nice. Donât you like them too?â
Duncan was speechless.
He said in amusement, âYour Aunt Ser is very nice, but she already has your Uncle Zack. I canât like your Aunt Ser. Your Aunt Elisa is also very good, but I donât like her that way. Sheâs not my type.
âAs for your mom⦠I only think of her as my friend. I come over every day because Nike you.â
Sonny seemed to vaguely understand the part where Duncan said he liked him.
He asked instinctively, âDo you want to marry me?â
Duncan froze. âSonny, weâre both boys, so we canât get married. Although I donât have a girlfriend yet, Iâm a straight man and only like women.â
âBut you said you liked me.â
âThe way I like you is different from the way I like women.â
âIsnât it the same? Why do you like me but not want to marry me?â
Duncan was speechless.
When faced with an innocent child who only had a hundred and one questions, Duncan found himself at a loss for words. He did not know how to explain it to Sonny.
âSonny, youâre still small. Letâs discuss this when youâre older, okay? Come on, Iâll teach you how to piece the bricks.â
He changed the subject.
Duncan made a mental note to himselfâbe careful with what was said to Sonny so he would not trap himself like he just did.
âSonny, come have breakfast.â
Serenity came over with a plate of pancakes and placed it on the counter, smiling, âDo you want me to feed you?â
âGo help your sister, Serenity. Iâll feed Sonny.â
âSorry for the trouble, Mr. Lewis.â
âItâs no trouble as long as Sonny is willing to let me feed him.â
However, Sonny refused to be fed by Duncan and wanted to eat by himself.
His mom said that she would send him to preschool in September, and that he would have to eat by himself in preschool.
âSerenity, Iâd like some pancakes too. Iâll sit here and eat with Sonny.â
Duncan saw that there were still many customers in the store, so he asked Serenity to make him a plate of pancakes for him to eat with Sonny.
âComing right up.â
Serenity turned around and went to make pancakes for Duncan. The business in the breakfast diner was booming; even Mrs. York was helping out.
Meanwhile, Duncan sat at the cashierâs desk digging into breakfast with Sonny. They looked like father and son.
This scene was witnessed by Lily and Mrs. Lewis.
They deliberately got up early to wait nearby for Duncanâs appearance and to confirm what was going on between him and Liberty.
As they watched the scene inside through the open glass door, Lilyâs expression was fine, but Mrs.
Lewis looked incredibly displeased.
Judging by how familiar Libertyâs son was with Duncan, she knew that the two met often.
Without her knowledge, Liberty and her son had gotten close to Duncan.
Mrs. Lewis was tempted to go inside.
However, she resisted.
Seeing that Duncan was about to come out, Lily hurriedly drove the car away.
âLily, go to the office later to find Duncan. It doesnât matter if you use business or private matters as an excuse. You have to hold onto him. Donât let any random woman on the streets have the opportunity to steal him away,â Mrs. Lewis instructed.
