Chapter 1296
Married at First Sight
Zacharyâs family did not want to put the strain on Serenity.
Mrs. Stone was Serenityâs aunt and a senior on Serenityâs side of the family. She should be showing more love and affection to Serenity.
âAunt Audrey wasnât trying to push me into having a baby. Her heart is in the right place. We have been a real married couple for a few months now, but Iâm not pregnant yet. I think itâs normal sheâd ask.â
Sticking her hand out, Serenity gave him a squeeze on the cheek and smoothen his puckered brows.
She said, âDonât make that wry face. Your frown is scary enough to startle your timid wife. âYou can be a ghost for Halloween with that face. No makeup required.â
Amused by her remark, Zachary flicked her forehead. âHave you seen such a handsome ghost? If youâre timid, then theres no one with nerves of steel in the world.
âFine. Iâm not mad. I think itâs between us whether we want to start a family. Other people shouldnât stick their noses where they donât belong. Even my parents arenât rushing us to have children. Nana is probably the only one with the occasional comment about her wish to have a greatâgranddaughter.
âNana was looking forward to having a granddaughter, but I guess she can only put her hopes into getting a greatâgranddaughter.â
Serenity rested her head on his shoulder. âI know Nana wants a greatâgranddaughter. Thatâs what I want to talk about, babe. Itâs not about the gender, but I canât even get pregnant. Do you think thereâs something wrong with my body?
âI mean, I donât think the problem lies with you. Oh, that reminds me. I heard that frequent sex could affect the chances of conceiving.â
Zachary was at a loss for words.
âI donât think thereâs a problem with your health.â Dismissing the part about frequency, Zachary firmly uttered, âWe are fit as a fiddle. You arenât pregnant yet because the time hasnât come. Our future child hasnât come to us.
âOur little angel is still finding their way to us. Youâll have buns in the oven before we know it. Donât worry too much about it.â
Zachary held his wife tight, not wanting Serenity to blame herself for not expecting yet.
âPregnancy is difficult. Your cousinâinâlaw, Alice, has pretty bad morning sickness, so much so that Clive would rather not have the child.
Not wanting Serenity to go through the same, Zachary said, âSeren, we donât have to have a child so soon. Letâs enjoy our moments together as husband and wife for now.
âIâll take you on a trip to Annenburg next weekend. We can use a break.â
In the end, he kept it in his pants.
âOh, next weekend? is it okay to leave work?â
âIâm not the only person around to run the company. We have a team of management. Not to mention, my cousins. Iâll only deal with the important matters.
âPlus, thereâs Josh too.â
Serenity said with a smile, âMr. Bucham and Jasmine are getting engaged. Then, the wedding preparations will come after the engagement party. They will only become busier. You promise to give Mr. Bucham a twoâmonth marital leave.â
âThatâs why we need to travel before his wedding.
âSure.â
Serenity would like to get to know Jane and Iris. She believed Jane and Iris had a friendship like hers with Jasmine.
Since Zachary made time to take her to go on a holiday to Annenburg, she might as well go. âI felt Remy out as you asked. Remy has a thing for Elisa, but heâs not in a rush to come clean about his feelings. He believes Elisa hasnât really⦠erm, gotten over the past.â
Serenity did not sound as surprised as she had expected just as much.
She sighed and replied, âAunt Audrey hoped you could hint to Mr. Johnson that Elisa wouldnât move away after marriage. I said Mr. Johnson is a great man. Although heâs from Annenburg, heâll be a permanent resident in Wiltspoon. Heâll be neighbors with my auntâs family since he bought a house here.
âAunt Audrey said it didnât change the fact that he was born and raised in Annenburg. Elisa could uproot to Annenburg for all she knew.
âShe also wanted you to tell Mr. Johnson that she did not want Elisa to go through the pain again.â
Zachary responded, âRemy only bought the place because of Elisa⦠Although heâs from Annenburg, heâs living in Wiltspoon permanently. Plus, he has a house here too. How different is from a local Wiltspoonian?â
It would be a shame if Elisa passed up on Remy.
