Chapter 1430
Married at First Sight
âByeâbye.â
Sonny waved to Elisa and blew her a kiss, making everyone laugh.
Zachary personally escorted Audrey and Elisa out of the inpatient building.
âYouâve worked hard these days, Zachary.â
Audrey said gratefully, âItâs thanks to you that Seren and her sister could turn their fortunes around. You helped them a lot. Thank you.â
Zachary said warmly, âSeren is my wife, and her sister is my sister. Theyâre my family. Itâs only natural that I help them.â
He helped Serenity and Liberty tremendously, but it was also because they got acquainted with him that they ended up being involved in trouble.
âYouâre a responsible man. I feel relieved leaving Serenity in your hands.â
Audrey had always known that Zachary was one of the most outstanding young men in Wiltspoon. Her daughter had a good eye.
However, they were not destined to be together.
Instead, Zachary became her nephewâinâlaw. At least he did not fall into the hands of someone else.
Audrey and Elisa left.
Zachary walked them to their car before going back.
âZachary.â
A familiar voice called out.
Zachary turned his head and saw Duncan with a fruit basket in one hand and a bouquet of flowers. in the other, walking toward him.
âDuncan, Libertyâs ward is already full of fruit baskets and bouquets.â
âThose are from other people.â
Duncan felt that he had to quietly fight for a place in Libertyâs ward.
âWhy did you come again when itâs already nighttime? Are you going to compete with us for the night watch again? She wonât be able to rest if you stay to watch over her at night. Itâll affect her recuperation.â
Duncan could keep vigil last night because Liberty was still in a coma.
However, now that she was awake, Zachary was not in favor of his friend keeping guard again.
His sisterâinâlaw still did not know that Duncan had feelings for her.
Duncan said, âI just came over to have a look. I feel uneasy if I donât see her.â
âAnd your mom allowed you to come here?â
Mrs. Lewis had looked down on Liberty for a long time.
Duncan walked side by side with Zachary and made the latter help carry the fruit basket. âMy mom canât interfere with my affairs. Sheâs looking forward to my marriage, but sheâs trying her best to stop me from getting together with the woman I like. I donât know if she wants me to get married or remain a bachelor for the rest of my life.
âWhatâs wrong with me liking Liberty? Sheâs single, Iâm single. Weâre both free and have the right to love freely.â
Duncan did not care how unpleasant his motherâs expression was when he left the house.
He could do whatever he wanted.
He was already in his thirties. He was not a mamaâs boy. Why would he need to follow his motherâs arrangements?
âMy sisterâinâlaw doesnât think of you in that way!â
Zachary reminded his friend.
It was too early to talk about marriage now.
Libertyâs relationship with Duncan was absolutely pure. To her, he was just a frequent customer of her store.
If one had to insist that there was a relationship between them, it would be a relationship between a landlord and tenant.
Duncan paused before saying, âZachary, can you help me? Put in a few good words for me in front of Liberty. I think itâs quite good if we went from best friends to being brothersâinâlaw.â
