Chapter 1470
Married at First Sight
Serenity wiped the small dining table clean.
Her heart warmed when she looked at the dishes. No matter the time, he always prepared her favorites.
âWhat did Callum say to you? What trouble did he get into?â Zachary asked curiously as he filled his beloved wifeâs plate with food.
âHe misunderstood Camryn and did something out of line, so he wanted me to help him apologize. I told him that he had to bear the consequences of his own actions.â
Serenity did not go into detail because she felt that it was Callum and Camrynâs private matter. Her brotherâinâlaw told her about it because he trusted her, so she could not tell anyone else about it. She did not tell Zachary lest Camryn felt embarrassed to see him in the future.
Even though she did not go into detail, Zachary was a man who had also forced a kiss on Serenity before, so he quickly guessed what happened.
He wisely did not continue to inquire.
While the couple had lunch, Duncan went to the hospital after work. He stood outside the door of Libertyâs ward for a long time but did not go in.
Zacharyâs bodyguard asked, âAre you going in, Mr. Lewis?â
Duncan quickly said, âNever mind. I just came to take a look. Is Liberty better?â
The bodyguard replied, âMs. Hunt is recovering well and can get out of bed to walk around now. Sheâs looking forward to being discharged. Sonny and she are eating inside now.â
Liberty and Sonnyâs three meals were sent over by Sam daily. They were all prepared according to the nutritionistâs recipes, which were conducive to Libertyâs recovery.
Audrey also sent tonic soup from time to time.
Olivia tried sending soup too, but she returned with an untouched bowl every time.
The Brown family did not show themselves today.
âOh, thatâs good. Thatâs good. Keep watch and donât let strangers in,â Duncan instructed before turning away.
The bodyguard was confused. Duncan came all the way but did not go into the ward and did not let Liberty know that he had been here.
Duncan met his mother when he was rounding the corner.
âDuncan,â Mrs. Lewis saw him first and called out.
Duncan looked at his mother. âMom, what are you doing here?â
âIf you can be here, why canât I? A friend of mine was also hospitalized, so I came to see her. Are you here to see Liberty?â
Mrs. Lewisâs words were filled with displeasure.
She already said that she would not accept Liberty as her daughterâin-law, but her son kept running to Liberty.
Duncan hummed and asked, âWhich friend of yours was hospitalized?â
âHannah is sick. Duncan, I told you last time that you and Liberty are not suitable. Stop coming to see her. She doesnât even like you. Why are you showering an uninterested party with affection? Isnât Lily good enough? Lily and you are the perfect match.â
Mrs. Lewis could not help but nag her son.
Duncan said in a low voice, âMom, I told you that Iâm in charge of my marriage. Youâre here to visit Hannah, right? Go on. Iâm leaving now.â
Then, he walked past his mother and left.
Mrs. Lewis did not stop him and turned around to watch his figure saunter away.
âItâs not like you canât get a wife, but you insist on liking a divorced woman. Furthermore, she doesnât even like you and only thinks of you as her landlord. Why are you still clinging to her?â Mrs. Lewis grumbled about her son.
