Chapter 1653
Married at First Sight
âThis house is too quiet. Get a few people to watch the house.â During her walk, Mrs. Stone complained that her daughterâs house was too quiet.
The Stonesâ housekeeper would arrange for someone to clean the villa, but no one lived there.
Elisa enjoyed being alone and free without being controlled by anyone.
âI think this is great.â
Elisa would like to keep to the status quo.
Mrs. Stone shot a glance at her daughter. She did not want to keep arguing over the topic with her.
âIâm attending a charity gala tonight. Come with me.â
âMom, you know Iâve always disliked attending galas. You can get Seren or Liberty to accompany you there.â
Mrs. Stone could not help but poke Elisaâs head. âYouâre now a businesswoman. Itâs important to socialize. If you donât socialize, how are you going to do business? If youâre able to do business in Wiltspoon, itâs all because of your brotherâs reputation. Other people are willing to do it for the sake of our familyâs status.
âThankfully, the vegetables on your farm arenât too bad. At least no one criticized it. Once you leave Wiltspoon and move to other cities, who else will know who you are?
âIâm taking you to the gala for the sake of your future. Seren doesnât like this kind of occasion too, but sheâs responsible, selfâmotivated, and willing to learn to blend in with the people. Sheâs different from before. Now, sheâs a lot more confident.
âWhatâs more, Zachary has to attend the charity gala. Seren will definitely go with him, so how can she accompany me? Youâre my daughter.â
Sometimes, Mrs. Stone could not do anything to her daughter. It was her family that pampered her daughter this way.
âWhat about Liberty? You can bring her along.â
âDonât you know her temperament? Even Seren canât persuade her to attend, much less me. Liberty needs to look after Sonny at night.â
Elisa pursed her lips and compromised. âFine. Iâll accompany you to the gala. How much money and how many things is Stone Group going to donate?â
âYouâll know tonight.â
The prominent families in Wiltspoon would attend important charity galas and donate things; regardless of whether they did it out of kindness or for the sake of their reputation.
It would be Serenityâs first time accompanying Zachary to attend this kind of event. The two of them were representatives of the Yorks.
Mrs. Stone could not possibly get Serenity to keep her company.
âMom, will Mr. Reading attend?â Elisa suddenly asked.
She was worried that Mrs. Stone would arrange for her to get along with Andrew.
âHow would I know? I canât read Mr. Readingâs mind.â
Elisa stuck out her tongue playfully. Then, she stopped speaking.
Mrs. Stone had made peace with Elisa. Now that Mrs. Stone came to meet Elisa personally, Elisaâs anger at being kicked out of Mrs. Stoneâs car subsided.
As Serenity was going to accompany Zachary to attend the charity gala, she planned to close her bookstore in the afternoon and send Sonny to Libertyâs place. That was when Jasmine came to the store.
Just as Serenity was about to close the store, Jasmine said, âSeren, Iâll watch the store. You can do whatever you want. I felt bored staying at home. I could finally convince Josh to let me out.â
While speaking, Jasmine walked into the store and placed her bag on the counter. She added, âIâll watch the store. Iâd rather read novels in the store than lie at home like a pig. I sleep and eat at home, which makes me feel like Iâm living the life of a pig.â
