Chapter 1665
Married at First Sight
Sonny asked in confusion, âWhy do we have to move, Mom?â
He had lived there for half a year with his mom and had gotten used to it.
Liberty lied. She said, âYouâll start preschool in September. Your preschool is quite far from here. We can move to a place closer to it so itâs convenient for me to send you to school.â
What opinions could a threeâyearâold child possibly have?
With Libertyâs explanation, Sonny nodded his head.
Therefore, she called a real estate agent, told the agent her requirements for renting a place, and asked for recommendations.
She was not in a rush to buy a house. She could look around and only decide after finding a suitable place.
Moreover, her priority was to pay for her sonâs education.
Sonny was enrolled in Wiltspoonâs best preschool. The annual school fee was about a hundred thousand to two hundred thousand dollars. She had gotten some money from Hank when they got divorced.
She used a portion of that money and invested in All You Can Eat. Although the dinerâs business was great, and she earned from it, she had also bought a car. After deducting the funds used to buy the car, the earnings of All You Can Eat were not enough to break even.
She would be able to break even and make a profit after working tirelessly for another month.
Liberty wanted to wait until her son started attending elementary school. She would consider buying a house only after she confirmed which school her son would attend.
It would be ideal to purchase a house situated between elementary and junior high schools due to its convenience.
While Liberty was getting a real estate agent to look for a house, Duncan had just exited the apartment building when he saw his mother getting out of the car.
He was relieved that he nailed the time for his momâs arrival. He could stop his mother and not let her appear before Liberty.
âDuncan.â
Mrs. Lewis walked over and pulled Duncanâs arm.
âCome. Follow me.â
âTo where?â
Mrs. Lewis tugged at her son and said, âI talked to Fran on the way here. She knows a suitable girl whom she can recommend to you. Go for the blind date now.â
Duncan flung his motherâs hand away.
He stopped and said seriously, âHow many times do I have to repeat myself, Mom? Iâll be in charge of my marriage. I donât need you or Dad meddling in this.â
âDuncan, let me tell you this too. Iâm a person of my word. Iâll never allow you to be with Liberty unless the sun rises from the west. Look at the many things youâve done. Was Liberty touched? No. She doesnât like you!
âSheâs probably annoyed with you pestering her so often. If it werenât for your friendship with Zachary, she might not open the door for you and would even release a dog to bite. you.
âThere are so many women out there. Why must you be so obsessed with her? I admit that Liberty is a nice lady, but sheâs unsuitable for you.â
Duncan said in a low voice, âI like Liberty. Itâs okay if she doesnât accept me now. Iâm willing to wait. I wonât give up as long as she hasnât gotten married to someone else. Even if itâs a year, two, or tenâI can wait for her.â
Mrs. Lewis was exasperated.
âTen years? Youâll be almost fifty by then!â
Duncan said nonchalantly, âIâm willing to wait even until my hair turns gray.â
âYou⦠Are you really trying to make me die of anger to hold my funeral?â
Mrs. Lewis was utterly enraged by her son.
âDuncan, even if you successfully marry Liberty, I donât like her as my daughterâinâlaw. Your life after marriage wonât be happy. Iâll be sure to nitpick and find fault with Liberty frequently. Iâll create all sorts of conflict and misunderstanding between you and Liberty too.
âThatâs unless you break our motherâandâson relationship!â
