Chapter 287
Married at First Sight
Chapter 287 Serenity was about to say that her sister would never forgive infidelity but hummed a response on second thought.
The couple did not exchange another word during the journey. Zachary did not do well at small talks while Serenity was preoccupied with her sisterâs marriage to engage in conversation. It was pinâdrop silence in the car. Zachary did not even put the music on.
Tilting her head, Serenity looked at the scenery outside the window.
She waited until they were reaching Bright Boulevard before giving her sister a call. Serenity was relieved that her sister picked up the call.
âLiberty, are you and Sonny up? I made quite a lot of sandwiches, so I brought you and Sonny some.â
Liberty stopped walking and stared at her son in the stroller. She said, â Sonny isnât awake yet. Seren, Iâm not at home. I took Sonny out for a stroll and somehow ended up near your bookshop. Iâll just head to your shop instead of going home.â
âOh, I see. Where are you now? Can you drop me a pin? Weâll take you to the shop.â
âSure.â
Liberty was tired from the long walk.
Since she was on the heavy side, the weight on her feet only exhausted her more as the stroll went on.
She sent her location to her sister.
Having received her sisterâs location, Serenity told Zachary, âMy sister isnât at home, Mr. York. Sheâs on the way to my shop. Can you go here? We can pick her and Sonny up then head to the shop.â
âSure.â
Zachary took a look at the location on Serenityâs phone before making a Uâturn and rerouting.
Liberty believed she had walked a great distance, so it would not take long before Zachary arrived at where she was. It was a ten-minute car ride to her location.
Holding the stroller, Liberty waited by the road.
âLiberty.â
With the car coming to a stop, Serenity got out of the car and approached her sister.
âAnt Swer.â
Sonny was looking a little drowsy as he just woke up from his sleep, but the sight of his aunt brightened him up. He extended his arms, asking for Serenity to hold him.
âSonny.â
Serenity carried her nephew and said to her sister, âGet into the car, Liberty.â
Zachary got out of the car and helped fold the stroller before loading it in the car. He waited until the sisters entered the car before taking his seat as the driver and starting the engine.
The sisters sat in the backseat.
âAre you hungry, Sonny?â
Serenity was not in a hurry to ask about her sisterâs plans. Sonny might only be two years old, but he could catch a few words from the adultsâ conversation. Serenity did not want her nephew to find out about Hankâs affair.
No matter what, Hank was Sonnyâs father. Regardless of the fatherâs wrongdoings, it was inappropriate to speak ill about the father in front of a child.
âHungry.â
Sonny rubbed his belly. âI brought formula.â
Liberty added, âItâs not easy to feed him milk in the car. Iâll wait until weâre at the shop to give him his bottle.â
âDo you want to have milk or a sandwich?â Serenity asked her little nephew.
âI want sandwichy.â
With a smile, Serenity kissed her nephew on the cheek and replied,â Okay. Iâll give you a sandwich when weâre at my shop. Itâs your favorite cheese sandwich.â
âSure.â As Sonny had only woken up, he could endure an empty stomach for a little longer.
While pressing Sonnyâs head against her chest, Serenityâs heart went out to him.
