Chapter 331
Married at First Sight
Chapter 331 âJust give my sister a hand and manage her childrenâs daily meals as well as their to and fro school run. Youâre cooking regardless if theyâre eating here anyway, so cooking for two more kids wonât make much of a difference. Theyâre still children, so they donât eat that much either.
âThink of it as doing me a favor. Weâve been married for so many years. Youâre willing to help me, right?â
Hankâs voice was gentle, and he looked at Liberty when he spoke. He even tried to appeal to her emotions.
âMy sister wonât make you work for nothing. Sheâll give you a thousand bucks every month, and as I mentioned last time, Iâd give you another fifteen hundred for living expenses. Including the thousand bucks my sister is giving you, youâll have twentyâfive hundred a month. Thatâs pretty decent.â
Liberty wanted to laugh.
She was angered to the point where she could only laugh at Hank and his sisterâs thoughts. One thousand dollars for her to take the two children to and from school and cook three meals a day for them, on top of tutoring them? âHank Brown, do you think a thousand dollars is a lot?â
âIt doesnât cost you any money to live and eat here. My sister is giving you a thousand for nothing, so you can keep all that for yourself as savings. Isnât that a lot? If you think itâs not enough, Iâll give you an additional thousand.â
L11 Liberty interrupted him and said, âDid I not make myself clear last time? I told you, I wonât be responsible for children who do not belong to me. Besides, I have something to tell you too. I also found a job and will be starting tomorrow.
âI asked Serenity to help me take care of Sonny. I have to ask my sister to help me with my own son.
How would I have the time and leisure to take care of other peopleâs children?â
1 1 1 Hankâs expression darkened upon hearing that. âWhat do you mean youâre going to work? How old is Sonny? He still canât live without his mother. Do I not give you enough food or clothes? Why are you going to work?â
1 1 âIâm free to work if I want to, and my sister can help me take care of Sonny. Yes, you donât give me enough food and clothes. Iâve had it with you, Hank! Do you really think I canât earn enough money to support myself?
âYou and your family think all I can do is eat and canât make money, right? Your mother and sister even scolded me, saying Iâm useless even after studying so much. They said Iâm useless unless I can earn money! If not for Sonny, do you think Iâd let you guys step on me and oppress me?
âI was really stupid, Hank. I was stupid to believe that you would support me. Heh. Look at my hair. Itâs still dark and shiny. I donât have a single white hair. Iâm still young. You havenât supported me for life yet, but you wanted to go Dutch with me after just three years.
âYou know well enough that I used my savings to renovate this house. You know Iâm raising the child at home with no source of income, but you still want to go Dutch with me. Werenât you just trying to force me to go to work? In that case, Iâll grant your wish and start working!
âI will never believe anything you say anymore for the rest of my life!â
Hankâs expression was dark as he said, âYou were the one who forced my hand. You spend money without any restraintâ¦.â
âWhat are you talking about? What did I buy with your money? All my skincare products were bought for me by Serenity, and all my jewelry and bags were bought by myself before I got married. When was the last time I bought new clothes since the wedding? âI only bought new clothes for the three of us as a family to leave a good impression on Zachary last time. I only spent a thousand or so dollars, but your family keeps harping about it even now. They say Iâm spending money indiscriminately and ruining the family.
1 1 1 1 âAfter the marriage, all of the money Iâve spent on was for this small home, you, and Sonny. I scrimp when it comes to myself, but Iâm generous when itâs for you and your son. But now youâre telling me I spend money without restraint and that has forced you to go Dutch with me to control my spending habits? âHank Brown, are you blind or is your heart black? Doesnât it go against your conscience to say such stuff? Was your conscience eaten by a dog?â Hank was struck speechless by Libertyâs questions. After a long pause, he said, âLiberty, Iâll stop going Dutch with you. Donât go to work and take care of Sonny first. You can return to work when he starts preschool.â
âI think that itâs fine to continue going Dutch. Thereâs no need to stop it. We can just go on like this. You donât have to say anything else either. Even if you give me ten thousand a month for living expenses now, Iâm still going to work.â
She wanted to get a job and make herself financially independent for the purpose of getting custody of her son after the divorce.
Never again would she listen to his drivel.
