Chapter 3613
Married at First Sight
Liberty asked, âAunt, how was Dr. Cardenâs attack? Were you surprised too?â
Liberty knew Lilian was skilled in medicine but had no idea about her martial arts abilities. She imagined Lilian as a character from a martial arts novel, able to fly, grab things from afar, and even harm people with leaves.
Audrey replied, âI couldnât see how Dr. Carden attacked, but suddenly, Clarissa and her bodyguards were on the ground. Dr. Carden mentioned she used a poison needle. I have no idea how it worked.â
Liberty responded, âA poison needle?â
It reminded her of something from a martial arts story.
âUncle Jimenez said Dr. Carden is not only skilled in medicine but also in creating poisons.
Thankfully, she doesnât use them to harm people; otherwise, sheâd be truly terrifying,â Audrey said, feeling a bit uneasy about Lilianâs abilities. âUncle Jimenez also said sheâs even better than her master. Itâs a relief that sheâs not our enemy.â
Liberty agreed, âThatâs true.â
They were all on good terms, largely thanks to the connections of the older generation. The relationships built by Old Mr. Jimenez helped them forge alliances with powerful people they hadnât even met before.
âGrandpa Jimenez met with Clarissa,â Liberty said before pausing.
Audrey continued, âAfter their meeting, Uncle Jimenez accused Clarissa of killing my mother. She denied it, of course, and asked for proof. We didnât show any evidence at the cemetery to avoid it being stolen or destroyed.
My goal is to ruin her reputation first, and then take her life in revenge for my motherâs death. Even after forty or fifty years, I canât forgive her for killing my mother and letting her continue to live.â
Clarissa seemed prepared to die with Audrey.
Audrey was waiting for Clarissa to make her move, knowing that if she did, it would end in tragedy for Clarissa and her children. Years ago, Clarissa had tried to eliminate every threat.
Audrey and Harlow were fortunate to escape with their nanny. Although separated from the nanny and sent to an orphanage, they survived.
Harlow passed away in middle age, but she left behind two daughters, Serenity and Liberty, which brought Audrey some comfort. Now that it was Audreyâs turn to seek revenge, she wanted Clarissa and her children to pay the price.
However, Audrey wouldnât strike first. She planned to let Clarissaâs actions lead her to her own downfall, taking her children with her.
As for Kathrynâ¦
âLiberty, how is Kathryn?â Audrey asked.
Liberty replied, âKathryn has recovered and been discharged from the hospital, but she hasnât returned to the company yet. Clarissa told her to rest at home, likely to keep her from finding out about her plans and warning me.
Clarissa also asked Pedro to drug Kathryn, so she would fall asleep, and Pedro could take her out of Jensburg.
But Kathryn refused, and Pedro, who is loyal to Kathryn, didnât follow through. After leaving the hospital, Kathryn handed the drug over to me, and I had it tested.â
