Chapter 481
Married at First Sight
Chapter 481 Zachary went back to their little home with Serenity in his arms.
As soon as the door was open, the pet dog rushed over.
âGet out of the way!â
Zachary gave a hushed roar, and the little thing lay on the ground obediently, not daring to come any closer.
It knew that its male owner did not like it very much.
Fortunately, he did not abuse it or deprive it of food and water.
Ring ring ring.
Zacharyâs phone rang.
He was still carrying Serenity and could not spare a hand to answer the phone.
The phone stopped ringing.
It should be from Josh. Zachary instructed him to call every ten minutes so he would have an excuse to leave.
However, there was no need for that now.
Audrey and her daughter had already left Libertyâs house.
He carried Serenity back to her room, placed her on the bed, and covered her with the quilt before calling Josh.
âYou donât have to call anymore.â
âI donât? I was thinking about whether to spam you.â
Zacharyâs lips twitched.
âHave you eaten? Do you want to eat together?â
âNo. Why arenât you asking Ms. Sox instead?â
âWouldnât it be humiliating if she rejected me? We exchanged numbers after we met, but she didnât take the initiative to contact me. I donât know what she thinks of me.â
Zachary paused before saying, âI can understand now why my nana feels disappointed in me.â
Josh was stumped, but he managed to ask, âSo⦠Should I ask her out for a meal now?â
âItâs up to you. Anyway, you have to be thickâskinned when chasing your wife.â
âLooks like youâre pretty thickâskinned now.â
Zachary touched his face. âI havenât measured, so I donât know how thick it is.â
Tosh burst into laughter. âSerenity is definitely the woman I admire most in the world. Thereâs no one like her!â
âGet lost!â
Zachary snapped at him and hung up the phone.
He sat down at the edge of Serenityâs bed, quietly looking at her sleeping face. The lines on her face had loosened up. He leaned down, pressed a kiss on her cheek, and whispered softly in her ear, âI admire you too, Serenity. You took half my soul away so easily.â
He gently touched her face again. The tenderness in his eyes was undisguised.
After lingering for a good long while, he finally left her room.
Serenity slept until the evening and only woke up from hunger.
When she opened her eyes to see the familiar environment, she knew that she had fallen asleep in the car and was carried back by Zachary.
Where was he?
The door was suddenly pushed open.
Zachary came in wearing a floral apron. It seemed like he had just been busy in the kitchen.
âYouâre awake?â
He walked over and asked in a warm voice. His eyes when he looked at her seemed to be able to steal her heart and soul.
How could she have thought that his eyes were sharp and cold in the past?
âWhat time is it now?â
âSix in the evening.â
âI slept that long?â She rubbed her stomach. âNo wonder I feel hungry.â
Zachary gave her a comb for her to brush her hair and said, âYou didnât eat at noon, so itâs only natural you feel hungry.â
She slept soundly, so he did not wake her up for lunch.
âDid my sister call?â
âNo, but I called Mrs. Lane. Sonny doesnât have a fever anymore. Heâs just sleeping.â
Serenity was relieved. His care and attention to Sonny warmed her heart.
She could not help but like him more with each passing day.
Even if her feelings started from gratitude, the affection she felt for him was real.
âDo you want to shower before eating?â
âIâll shower later. Iâm staying at my sisterâs place tonight.â
Zachary was silent.
Serenity leaned closer to him. Her eyes twinkled as she teased him, âWhy? Canât bear for me to leave?»
