Chapter 484
Married at First Sight
Chapter 484 âSeren, you should go to work tomorrow or open your shop. You donât have to come over.
I can take care of Sonny.â
Serenity was still worried. âThen Iâll ask Mrs. Lane to stay here.â
Mrs. Lane was hired with the priority to take care of Sonny during the day anyway, and cleaning up Zacharyâs and her home was secondary.
Liberty felt a little embarrassed.
Her brotherâin-law hired Mrs. Lane because he did not want his wife to be tired, but Mrs. Lane was always helping her instead.
âWeâre sisters, Liberty. We should support each other.â
Serenity did not want her sister to be burdened psychologically. âAs long as Sonny and you are doing well, nothing else is more important.â
âYou pay Mrs. Laneâs salary for now. Iâll pay you back when Iâm back on my feet.â Liberty was grateful for her sisterâs help, but she could not take it for granted.
Zachary said warmly, âLiberty, weâre family. Donât be such a stranger. Serenity and I have a good income now with no children yet, so we donât have many commitments in our lives. You donât have to worry abc it Mrs. Laneâs salary. We wonât treat her poorly.â
Liberty was growing more pleased with her brotherâinâlaw.
Her sister was a little luckier than she was, Zachary was a responsible man.
At nine in the evening, the young couple left Bright Boulevard.
Grandma May was already sitting in the hall, watching TV. She was immediately overjoyed when she saw the couple walking in while holding hands.
Zachary felt a little unnatural, but Serenity had a calm face.
They were husband and wife. What was strange about holding hands?
âWhere did you go, Nana? I didnât see you in the afternoon.â
Serenity only let go of Zacharyâs hand after walking up to the old lady, taking a seat beside her.
âI met up with my friends for a chat. Have you just returned from your sisterâs place? Is Sonny better?â
Serenity nodded. âHeâs much better. I told Mrs. Lane to stay there and help my sister take care of Sonny together.â
âThatâs good. By the way, you mentioned that Mrs. Stoneâs sister and Sonny look alike⦠Mrs. Stone went to your sisterâs house and saw Sonny. Did she say anything about it?â
Grandma May was more interested in knowing if Serenityâs deceased mother was the long lost sister whom Audrey had been looking for for decades.
âMrs. Stone didnât say anything when she went to my sisterâs place. She just turned really pale and scared Elisa, so the latter quickly took her home. I think⦠maybe my mom was the sister she has been looking for.â
1 Audrey was pale because she had difficulty accepting the reality that her sister had been dead for fifteen years.
She spent decades looking for her only sister, but when she finally found a lead, she was told that her sister passed away fifteen years ago. No one would be able to accept that.
âThe decision lies in Mrs. Stoneâs hand now. My sister and I canât do anything.â Serenityâs mood became depressed while discussing this.
Grandma May nodded. âMrs. Stone should take some time to accept the fact that her sister might have passed away. Sheâll definitely come to you two and offer to do a DNA test in a few days.â
She patted Serenityâs hind and said comfortingly, âSeren, no matter what the result is, weâll accept it calmly. If your mother really is Mrs. Stoneâs sister, although she canât reconnect with her sister anymore, at least she still has relatives looking for her and thinking about her. She can then rest in peace.â
Serenity desperately blinked away the tears welling up in her eyes.
She thought, âIf Mom and Mrs. Stone really were sisters, and if they met earlier, maybe Mom wouldnât have died in that accident.â It was the living who were left behind to lament.
