Chapter 499
Married at First Sight
âYouâre a b*stard! You wonât even give me a chance to explain. What you see isnât always the truth.â
Serenity let go of Zachary and angrily pinched him on the arm.
He scared her.
She thought they were entering another phase of silent treatment.
Zachary quietly took her pinching. It hurt like hell, but he did not care.
All was good knowing that she cared about him.
âShawn confessed his feelings to me, but I rejected him. Iâm your wife. I wonât leave you unless you decide you donât want me anymore.â
âReally?â
The concealment of his identity came to mind.
Would she stay by his side when she was to find out that he had been lying to her for so long?
âDonât you believe me?â
Letting out a sigh, Zachary pulled her into his arms. âSerenity, I was really angry when I saw you with Shawn. My instinct told me to leave. I know that you were not to blame. Shawn was all over you.
âThe truth is⦠Iâm jealous.
âIâm green with envy. Iâm jealous at the thought Shawn loves you and that he has had the pleasure of knowing you for more than a decade.â
Zachary had not known Serenity for long.
His relationship with her could not beat her decadeâlong relationship with Shawn.
Shawn got to know her and fell in love with her sooner than Zachary could.
Zachary fell far behind Shawn in every single way.
âShawn and L. I told you before that heâs a younger brother to me. I donât like him that way. We wouldnât have gotten married if I had romantic feelings for him. I wouldâve gone for Shawn to give my sister peace of mind.â
Despite knowing that Serenity was telling the truth, Zachary could not get over his bitterness.
Basically, Serenity was saying that Zachary stood no chance if she was into Shawn.
Zachary could buzz off to wherever he came from.
âAre you still jealous?â
Lifting her chin, Serenity stared at his grimacing face. Amused, she pinched his face. âHas any talent scout cast you to be an actor? You make the perfect grinch without makeup.â
Zachary took her by the hand and replied gruffly, âI am.â
âDidnât you say you donât know what jealousy was? I had to give you a dictionary for that.â
Zachary was at a loss for words.
Since he had nothing, he might as well lower his head and seal those luscious lips.
It did not slip Serenityâs mind that they were in front of his office building. Although it was working hours, there were still people coming in and out of the place.
She let him give her a quick peck before pushing him away.
Serenity uttered softly, âTrust me, Zachary. I wonât do anything to betray you while weâre still lawfully married.â
âI trust you.â
Zachary did not take his hands away from her as they walked to her car. He pulled open the door. âGet inside. Itâs chilly outside.â
It was snowy in Meadspring while the temperature had only begun to drop in Wiltspoon.
After Serenity was stuffed into the backseat, Zachary followed suit.
With the door closed, Zachary pinned her down to the seat and towered over her to lock tongues.
It took several kisses to diminish most of Zacharyâs jealousy.
âDonât meet with Shawn ever again,â Zachary demanded.
âI know you donât love him, but it doesnât change the fact that heâs in love with you. God knows what heâll do to you since he canât have you.â âIâll beat him up if he gets handsy.â
