Chapter 502
Married at First Sight
For the sake of peace and quiet, Jasmine did not hesitate to lie on the floor at Mrs. Dawsonâs birthday celebration. It meant that the pressure to get married was pretty bad for Jasmine.
Josh would not be able to wiggle his way out of the situation if Mrs. Sox caught him visiting Jasmine.
Although Jasmine was his type, nothing was carved in stone yet between them. They had not reached the stage of meeting the parents.
Josh only let the head of the Bucham household know about it while keeping it from the others. He was afraid the seniors of his family would turn up in a large group at Jasmineâs house and scare her off.
Jasmine thanked Joshâs show of concern.
The pair did not chat for long and ended the phone conversation.
Elisa and her mother waited at Serenityâs shop for Serenityâs return. Shawn left after Elisa and her mother came along.
Shawnâs mother warned him to keep a distance from Elisa. The Lowes did not want to cross the fiery princess of the Stones.
Mrs. Stone had made up her mind that Serenity and Liberty were her nieces. She looked around every corner of Serenityâs shop.
She saw plenty of other items.
Baffled, Mrs. Stoned asked her daughter, âWhy does Serenity have a lot of skincare and cosmetic products in her shop?â
Mrs. Stone knew that Serenity also had an online business selling her own crafts. She had seen the manekiâneko Elisa brought home. It was well made.
Her daughter loved the manekiâneko a lot.
Elisaâs face turned red.
She replied awkwardly, âI bought those stuff, Mom. I would turn to retail therapy whenever I feel down.
It doesnât matter if the products have no use to me. I buy them all.
âIt was only when I calmed down after the shopping that I realized youâd tear into me for getting stuff I didnât need. So, I gave them all to Serenity.â
Mrs. Stone retorted, âSo you dumped your stuff on Serenity like sheâs a recycling center?â
Elisa stuck out her tongue.
She went up and held her motherâs arm while sweet âtalking. âNow that I know Serenity might be my cousin, itâs only proper for me as the older cousin to give her gifts. Iâm not dumping my stuff on her.â
âRight. Itâs all thanks to you that I might have possibly found your aunt. Onlyâ¦â
Mrs. Stone ended midâsentence.
She hoped and was also afraid the DNA test would show that she and Serenity were related by blood.
If they were related, it meant that her sister was dead for fifteen years.
Mrs. Stone would have to wait until her time on earth was over before reuniting with her sister once more in heaven.
âMom.â
Elisa knew her mother was sad.
Clinging onto her motherâs arm, Elisa comforted her, âAlthough my aunt might no longer be with us, she left behind two daughters. You have been searching for your sister for decades. Itâs a blessing that you could find two nieces.
âLetâs not forget Sonny as well. Heâs a cutie pie. I took an instant liking to him. Iâm so envious Serenity has such a cute nephew. I canât believe he might be my nephew too. Haha! Iâm going to buy Sonny lots and lots of toys.â
Mrs. Stoneâs heart could melt just thinking about the adorable kid. âHow is it going with Sonny? Did you ask Serenity? Tell Serenity to let us know if she needs our help.
âWeâll help her regardless of whether sheâs my niece or not.â
No matter what, Serenity was one of her darling daughterâs handful of best friends.
Mrs. Stoneâs love for her daughter was extended to her friends too.
She had a good opinion of Serenity, to begin with.
âI havenât asked Serenity. How could I after the scare you gave me yesterday, Mom? I think it must be resolved. Serenityâs husband is a nice guy. Her husband will always be there to sort things out whenever Serenity and her sister encounter difficulties.
âSerenity and her husband got married right away without knowing much about each other. Still, the husband is way better than the man her sister had married and known for twelve years. The scumbag Brown! I would beat the guy up if it were me.â
Mrs. Stone asked with concern, âSerenity got married right away? Where is her husband from? What does he do?â
âI think heâs working at York Corporation. Coincidently, his last name is York, but Serenity said her husband is not related to the York family that we know.â
There were plenty of people with the same last name, so Mrs. Stone did not think much about it. She merely hummed an acknowledgment.
