Chapter 503
Married at First Sight
âHave you met Serenityâs husband before?â Mrs. Stone asked her daughter.
If Serenity and her sister turned out to be her nieces, Mrs. Stone, as the aunt, should assess the men for her nieces.
âIâve never met him before. He seems to be busy at work. You know only elites could join York Corporation, and work can get busy. I think her husbandâs working in higher management, so work must take up a lot of his time.
âSerenityâs expression started to soften when she talked about him. I think theyâre developing feelings for each other.â
Elisa did not pay an awful lot of attention to Serenityâs marriage.
As she had loved before, Elisa could tell the subtle changes in Serenity toward her husband.
After much thought, Elisa added, âBut they have not become a real couple. Their marriage is only in name at present.â
âThey entered the marriage without any feelings for one another. Everything should fall into place since theyâre keeping the marriage in name while nurturing their relationship. Itâs rare for a couple to be so grounded.â
Mrs. Stone was already taking Serenityâs side before it was confirmed that the latter was her niece.
She thought Serenityâs sound judgment, independence, selfâreliance, and strong will were so much like her.
Meanwhile, it sounded like a car had pulled up outside the shop.
âThat must be Serenity.â
Elisa walked out and saw Serenity.
Since it was still raining outside, Elisa stood at the entrance and watched with a smile as Serenity got down from the car and approached under an umbrella.
âIâm sorry to keep you waiting, Elisa.â
Serenity was in a good mood after clearing the air with Zachary and stopping the petty guy from repeating history. She could not help but smile when she came back to Elisaâs smiling face too.
She shook off the raindrops on the umbrella at the door and put the umbrella, away before entering the shop with Elisa.
âThe temperature really dropped today.â
Elisa commented, âI donât feel cold though.â
Her clothes might not look thick, but they were warm.
âSerenity, this is my mom.â
Elisa introduced her mother to Serenity.
Serenity and Mrs. Stones locked eyes.
Despite being hot with emotions, Mrs. Stone pulled herself together and let out a kind smile.â You must be Seren. Elisa often talked to me about you.â
âHello, Mrs. Stone,â Serenity politely greeted Mrs. Stone.
She got her emotions in check even at the possibility that Mrs Stone might be her aunt, unlike Mrs.
Stone who was emotional.
She did not want to make a judgment too soon before the DNA test was done.
âPlease have a seat, Mrs. Stone. Iâll pour you a glass of water.â
Mrs. Stone immediately replied, âYou donât need to, Seren. Elisa and I have been in your shop for a while. I got a drink here.â
Mrs. Stone looked at the packed breakfast and insulated cup on the cash register with heartache written in her eyes.
âI guess you havenât had your breakfast, Seren. Have something to eat and then weâll talk after.
âNo matter what, you should have your meals on time. Donât let yourself go hungry.â
Some people would be having their lunch by now.
Mrs. Stone felt bad that Serenity had not had her breakfast.
Elisa jumped in, âSerenity, just take my advice. I didnât have my meals on time back then and it didnât help with my health. It took a while for me to get better. Now, my mom will drag me out of bed for breakfast between seven to eight oâclock in the morning even if I were to sleep at three.â
Mrs. Stone glared at her. âYouâre one to talk.â
Elisa stuck her tongue out cheekily. âI have no shame. Of course, Iâll talk.â Amused, Serenity laughed.
