Chapter 552
Married at First Sight
âWait, arenât you the substitute driver?â
Serenity was surprised when she recognized Jim.
Jim smiled sheepishly. âI gave your husband my name card and told him he could find me if he needs anything. I can do anything as long as Iâm paid.â
Serenity supposed that there was not a smooth stream of business for a substitute driver and that doing other jobs partâtime was better than staying idle at home, so she did not suspect that Jim was lying.
âThank you.â
âDonât thank me. Iâm getting paid to do my job.â
Jim finished speaking and hurriedly carried the sofa out with a colleague.
Jasmine asked casually, âDo you know that person?â
âYeah, Iâve seen him a few times since he lives in Brynfield. He usually works as a substitute driver. He sent Zachary home twice when the latter got drunk.
âI didnât know that he had side jobs. Iâll ask for his name card later. We can hire him if we need something done in the future. I think heâs quite reliable.â
Grandma May, who was helping to pack up Sonnyâs toys, expressed silently, âJim is one of Zackâs bodyguards. Of course, heâs reliable.â
Many hands make light work.
With everyoneâs help, all the appliances Liberty had stuck a note on were soon moved away along with Liberty and Sonnyâs luggage.
Ring ring ringâ¦
Serenityâs phone rang.
âZachary, weâre moving Libertyâs stuff now.â Serenity knew that her husband was equally concerned despite not being able to be there to help, so she reported the progress to him as soon as she answered the phone.
Zachary said warmly, âI hired a few trucks to go over. They should be reaching the entrance of the residential area soon. I gave your phone number to one of the truck drivers. Bring them in later to help move your sisterâs stuff to her apartment.
âIf it doesnât fit in her apartment, you can temporarily move the stuff to our house.â
Their small home was big enough since they did not have many belongings.
âOkay, got it. Youâre really thorough, Zachary. We called a group of people to help with moving, but we didnât think of hiring a few trucks to transport the stuff.â
All of the appliances that were moved out were placed in the open space downstairs for people to gawk at.
Zacharyâs lips curled up upon receiving compliments from his wife. âYou guys carry on. Iâll go over after work.â
âOkay.â
Serenity took advantage of everyoneâs inattention and smooched into the air, then said softly, âIâll give you a flying kiss.â
Zachary, who was still on the line, heard it and said with a low chuckle, âI want a real kiss when I go home tonight.â
Serenity smiled cheekily and quickly hung up.-
Zachary put down the phone in a happy mood.
Josh and Callum happened to knock on the door and enter. When they saw the smile that was still on his face, Josh clicked his tongue and said, âYou secretly called your wife again, didnât you? Look at that smile plastered on your face.â
Zachary acted as if nothing happened. âMy sisterâinâlaw just divorced. They brought men to her house to help with the move and tear down everything else. Itâs very lively there now. I just called to ask about the progress.â
Josh was speechless.
Zachary was deliberately explaining it to him.
He knew Josh liked to gossip and purposely told him about it but forbade him from joining in on the fun.
âZachary, youâre becoming more unethical by the day.â
Zachary asked innocently, âWhat do you mean?â
Josh was speechless.
Callum laughed. âJosh wants to help your sisterâinâlaw tear down her house.â
âI didnât say that.â
Josh immediately denied it.
Zachary hummed. âI was thinking that if you really wanted to go and join the fun, I would let you go under the pretense of a truck driver to help move her stuff.â
Josh was struck speechless again.
What a terrible friend!
What an insufferable friend!
He must have owed Zachary in his past life!
