Chapter 566
Married at First Sight
Feeling bad, Alice gave Elisa a hug and consoled her, â Elisa, you should stop yearning for him since Zacharyâs married. Heâs not the only good man on earth. Youâll find better men once you let go of him.
âYouâre a great girl to me, Elisa. Donât beat yourself up just because Zachary doesnât like you. Take my advice. Forget Zachary. Your brother and I will find you a good man who is better suited for you and yours alone.
âI promise you will live happier than Zachary. It might not be all sunshine and roses for the woman to marry a stoic man like Zachary. Think about it. Whoâ¦would want to be with an aloof man?â
Elisa bit her lips, refusing to shed tears.
Worried Elisa might draw blood from the furious biting, Alice ran her mouth about her husband. âClive is an *sshole for making me a meanie bright early in the morning. Donât do that, Elisa. Youâll only hurt yourself.
âCry it out if youâre feeling sad. Cry it all out. Iâm not an outsider. Youâll feel better after crying.
âHow about I take you shopping? Weâll buy anything and everything you want.
Why donât you look for a fun time with your friends?â
Elisa lifted her arm to rub her eyes and loosened the bite on her bottom lip. She tried to curl her lips, but her smile was uglier than her crying face.
She said, âIâm fine, Alice. I already knew. I knew when I saw the wedding ring on Zacharyâs finger the other day.
âYouâre right. There are so many good men under the sun. Zacharyâs not the only one. He doesnât have to be the one for me. I donât want to love him anymore since he belongs to another. Thatâs good. I can finally get over him.â
Elisa went to her brother and cried in his arms when she saw Zachary wearing the ring for the first time.
Now, there were no more tears to shed.
There was no use bawling over it anyway.
She would cry for days on end if crying could make Zachary single.
âAre you really not going to cry, Elisa? Youâll feel better after letting it all out.â
Elisa stared at her sister-in-law, caught in between tears and laughter. âDo you really want to see me cry, Alice?â
âI donât want you to bottle up your feelings. It would make you feel better after releasing your pent-up emotions.â
âI have already cried for him.â
Elisa took her sister-in-lawâs phone once more and was fixated on the photo for a long time before saying, âI wonder who was able to steal Zacharyâs heart and get him to marry her. I think the woman must be someone gorgeous and caring.â
It took tender-heartedness to overcome callousness.
âI have a fiery temper. Plus, Iâm willful. No wonder Zachary doesnât like me.â
âNo, Elisa. Youâre a nice girl. I admire your character. Itâs just not meant to be as Zachary doesnât reciprocate your feelings. Itâs okay. Your Mr. Right must be out there somewhere, waiting for you. Heâll soon find his way to you once you take your eyes away from Zachary.â
Elisa burst into laughter.
âAlice, you donât have to rack your brains to find the words to comfort me. My world would come crumbling down if today was the day I found out Zachary is married, but I discovered this earlier. I had not harassed him and stopped thinking about him for a while.
âAlthough I have not let him go completely, I have my pride. I can get over him now that he has a wife. I wonât take whatâs not mine.
âHe would be a man who canât keep it in his pants and is disloyal to his marriage if he strayed away from his wife. I wouldnât want to love a man like that.â
With Elisa laughing, Alice felt a little relieved. Alice reached out and lovingly ran her fingers down Elisaâs hair while uttering, âDo you know what I like most about you, Elisa? Youâre a little willful and fiery, but youâre right-minded.
