Chapter 580
Married at First Sight
Mr. Brown stared at his wife with a dark expression and asked, âWhose grandfather did you go to?â
âWho else? It was Libertyâs grandfather Her grandmother was in the hospital, so I went there to see them and presented my request. Old Mr. Hunt said he wanted one hundred thousand, but I refused.
After some bargaining, I gave him sixty thousand.
âHe repeatedly assured me that he would persuade Serenity not to divorce, but Serenity didnât do so with Liberty. They just took the money and did nothing.â
As soon as Olivia was done explaining, Mr. Brown flung his hand and slapped her on her arm.
âAre you stupid? How could you trust those people in Libertyâs family? Besides, itâs not like youâre not aware of the conflict between Liberty and her family. You shouldâve gone to anyone except for them.
Youâre usually smart, but how could you be so foolish this time?
âSixty thousand. You actually spent sixty thousand!â
Mr. Brown was so angry at his wife that he was about to faint.
Olivia said aggrievedly, âI just thought that since itâs not easy to talk to Serenity, we could let her family do it for us. Even if they quarrel, itâll be a family issue. Thatâs why I went to them. Old Mr. Hunt said that the hospital just happened to urge them to pay his wifeâs medical bills which cost fourty thousand. If I give them sixty thousand, they can use the remaining twenty thousand as the cost of persuading Serenity.â
Old Mrs. Huntâs medical expenses were paid using her own money initially. She later let the children of the family each pay a little, but they had run out of money. Now that they had to fork out another forty thousand and Olivia coincidentally presented herself at their doorstep, Old Mr. Hunt quickly seized the opportunity.
âYouâre such a fool. Giving money to that family is the same as flushing it down the drain. Thereâs no way of getting your money back.â
Chelsea chimed in, âMom, I told you to find someone to help, not to throw away money.â
However she quietly thought, âI didnât know Mom kept so much money to herself.
âIt seems Hank has been giving our parents a lot of money.
âThe amount of money they spend on my family is probably only a fraction of what Hank gives them.â
âIâm going to Old Mr. Hunt to ask for my money back. They didnât get the job done, so I wonât stop until I get my money back.â
Olivia said resentfully, âWhen we settle down after this house fiasco, Chelsea and George, you two come with me to find Old Mr. Hunt to collect my sixty thousand.â
âOf course we have to get it back.â
Chelsea agreed that they needed to get the money back.
If Old Mr Hunt took the money and did as requested, they would leave the sixty thousand with him. At least they would have saved more than a million from Hank as well as the renovation of the house.
However, since old Mr. Hunt did not get the job done, he had to return the money. Call Hank and tell him to come over immediately. Mr. Brown was so angry at the series of unfortunate Events that he almost got a heart attack.
He never thought that his sonâs divorce would cost so much. If he had known there was no way to turn back time, they reaped what they sowed. No matter how angry they were, they could only swallow this bitter pill themselves. Donât be angry, dad. Youâll harm your body. Iâll call Hank now and tell him to come over.
Also, if that Yates girl is with Hank, tell her to come over as well. Olivia came to town early in the morning just so she could assert dominance over Jessica.
So she naturally had to call Jessica over, too. Jessica held a great responsibility for her sonâs family becoming fragmented, chelsea hummed and said, Iâll tell Hank to bring the Yates girl over.
If it werenât for her, liberty wouldnât have divorced Hank so quickly. With a sister inlaw like Chelsea, jessicaâs new life was just getting started.
