Chapter 583
Married at First Sight
After breakfast, Zachary transferred fifty thousand to Serenity.
Serenity saw the transaction and said, âIâm not short of money.â
There was sufficient money in the household card he gave her.
âIâll be away from home on business and donât know when Iâll be back. The new year is around the corner so youâll have to buy some stuff to ring the old year out. I wired fifty thousand to you so you can get whatever you want.
âOn the 28th, weâll return to my hometown for the New Yearâs. There are a lot of relatives, so weâll need to deliver an abundance of gifts. Ask Nana what to give and buy them in advance. Tell me if fifty thousand isnât enough and Iâll transfer more to you.â
Zacharyâs reason was indisputable. Upon hearing his explanation, Serenity had to accept the fifty thousand.
After so long, this was the first time he mentioned bringing her along to go back to his hometown.
In the past, whenever she met his parents, it was always him who informed his parents and relatives to come over.
Grandma Mayâs eyes twinkled when she heard this, but she said nothing and simply smiled.
When Serenity went to the balcony to water the plants, Grandma May picked up Snowball and sat next to her grandson and whispered, âWhere are you staying if youâre bringing Seren back for the New Yearâs?â
Would it be at the old York residence or just a random house?
âNana, we could still stay at Whitmore Mansion if we clean it up, right?â
Grandma May grinned. âYes, indeed we could.â
The old York residence that Grandma May was currently residing at was a villa on a mountain built by her and her husband. It was called Wildridge Manor.
Whitmore Mansion, on the other hand, was an ancestral house that was incredibly quaint and not far away, with only a tenâminute drive from Wildridge Manor.
Grandma May would bring her children and grandchildren back to Whitmore for old timesâ sake and to pay respects to their ancestors.
âWeâll stay for a few days during the New Yearâs over at Whitmore then.â
Whitmore possessed a richer history as compared to Wildridge even though it was not as large as the latter, but most importantly, it would not raise any suspicion in Serenity if she stayed there.
âIf thatâs your decision, then all right.â
Bringing Serenity to Whitmore Mansion for the New Yearâs was not lying to her per se since it really was one of the York residences.
âIâll make a call and tell them to clean for a few people to stay for a while and liven up the place.â
Grandma May was playing along with her grandson. As for whether Serenity would be angry laterâ¦
Heh, that would be a headache for him to solve.
Serenity came in from the balcony after she was done watering the plants. She asked Zachary, âCan we leave now? Iâll take you to the office first.â
âNo need. You take Nana to pick up Sonny and Mrs. Lane. Iâll drive myself to the office.â
Zachary still had plenty of arrangements to make. It would not be good if Serenity found out about his little secret now.
Serenity did not insist.
Since there was no need to see him off, she was happy to relax.
âIâll wait for you downstairs, Seren.â
Grandma May was someone mindful and went ahead to bring the three pets downstairs, leaving some space for the young couple to be alone.
Zachary got up and walked to Serenity. He reached out to embrace her and took her into his arms. âI really want to take you with me.â
After a moment of silence, Serenity pushed him away and said, âI canât help you even if I go be bored and alone in a strange and unfamiliar city while youâre busy working. I might as well stay at home and wait for your return,â
She raised her left hand and said, âDonât worry, Iâll wear the wedding ring.
âIâll think of you and Iâll be sure to send you a message every night before I go to bed.â
She felt more at ease if they did not interfere with each otherâs lives, just like when they first got married. Now, he was getting clingier by the day.
It was just a business trip, but he was dallying and looked as if he wanted to pack her into his suitcase to take her with him.
