Chapter 673
Married at First Sight
Zachary retorted in his mind, âThe company does belong to me.â
Serenity went on saying, âIs Mr. Tank the manager here at the subsidiary company? Thatâs how he introduced himself. âHe said youâll need to remain in the hospital for a few days. You donât need to do anything but rest. You might appear healthy, but all the work and tiredness finally caught up to you.
Your immune system went down, and now you got one nasty cold.
âYouâre on paid medical leave. Mr. Tank asked me to look after you and will be paying me on the clock.
At least, they had everything thought out for you.â at least, they had everything thought out for you.â
Serenity was impressed by the subsidiary company of a huge corporation.
Every aspect was considered thoroughly as family members were offered some form of remuneration without needing to ask for it.
Zachary enjoyed his chicken soup while thinking to himself, âItâs my money nonetheless.â
However, it was not something he had the guts to blurt out.
âHow long do I have to be in the hospital? Itâs only a cold and fever. I want to be out by morning. All I need is to rest at the apartment. I can just come to the hospital for daily IV drips if required. I donât want to stay at the hospital. I hate hospitals the most.â
Serenity peevishly retorted, âWho likes the hospital anyway? But youâre sick. You wonât get better if you stay away from hospital treatments. Look at you. The medicine you got from the pharmacy didnât do you any good. You were unconscious. While on the way here, I was worried the fever might cause you permanent neurological problems.â
Shuddering at that thought, Zachary immediately responded, âIâm a lot better now. No permanent damage whatsoever.â
âItâs the doctorâs orders!â
âSerenâ¦â
âThe doctorâs orders!â
Zacharyâs face fell. âItâs boring in the hospital.â
âIâll be here with you. I donât think itâs boring or a hassle, so who are you to complain?â
Zachary was speechless.
He was glad that Josh sent his wife here to take care of him since it had not been long ago when the couple had another fight. The illness could bring the couple back together again. However, Serenity had him on a tight leash since she set foot into the hospital.
âOr do you want me to go home now? I wonât stay and look after you if you donât remain in the hospital.
Aunt Audreyâs hosting a party just for Liberty and I. Since you donât require care in the hospital, I can rush back and make it to the party.â
Zachary quickly held her hands.
âSeren, Iâll stay in the hospital. Your word is my command.â
âNot mine. You should be listening to the doctor.â
In his mind, Zachary cussed the doctor who recommended the hospital stay.
Nevertheless, seeing that Serenity thoughtfully fed him the chicken soup, Zachary could let go of the resentment.
Well, he might as well enjoy the hospital stay. He was living the life as his wife was giving him all the attention.
After feeding Zachary the chicken soup, Serenity pulled out some tissue to wipe his mouth. Her thoughtfulness tempted Zachary to pull her into his arms and kiss her a thousand times.
It was a shame that he had a cold now.
It was a viral infection too. He could not kiss her for fear of infecting her.
âSeren.â
Serenity stared at him.
Zachary coughed.
He did not experience coughing yesterday.
Now, his throat was itchy.
âCan you kiss me here with the mask on?â
Zachary touched his cheek, gesturing for Serenity to kiss him there.
Serenity was at a loss for words.
âSerenâ¦â
Zacharyâs voice trailed.
