Chapter 705
Married at First Sight
On the other end of the line, Clive curtly said, âIâll reveal to Serenity who you are if I donât see you there.
She might not be angry about the other things you hide from her, but the fact that youâre the great Mr.
York will rub her the wrong way because of Elisa.â
Black in the face, Zachary snapped back, âI said Iâll be there. Just wait for me.â
The nerve of Clive to threaten him!
âIâm the older cousin. Shouldnât you be the one to wait for me?â
Zachary coldly uttered, âThe Grand Hotel belongs to you. You can be there any time. If you change the location to the Wiltspoon Hotel, Iâll arrive early and welcome you in the presidential suite.â
âIs something riding on your guilty conscience? Are you scared? Is that why youâre making me wait for you?â
âClive, cut the crap.â
Clive chuckled. âIâm older than you. You canât change the fact that Serenity is my cousin. You donât have to acknowledge me as the older figure if you donât want to be Serenityâs husband. Itâs rude that you donât respect me as an older family member when youâre her husband.
âI might just pick on you in front of Serenity.â
âDonât you dare!â
Clive laughed hard. âWhy wonât I? Do you think I like and fear you? Iâm dying to have you replaced and introduce a better man to my cousin.â
âOut of everyone in Wiltspoon, no one is better and more brilliant than I am.â
Zachary believed when Clive said he would get him replaced.
Nobody expected to end up in this sort of sticky situation.
âZachary, when did you become so shameless? You may have Wiltspoonâs business world in the palm of your hand, but that doesnât mean youâre the best man out there.â
Zachary faintly answered, âMen become shameless when they get married.â
Clive was at a loss for words.
The changes in Zachary were a real eye-opener to Clive.
âIâm hanging up if thereâs nothing else. I need to put my wife in bed before I can sneak out to see you.â
It was Cliveâs turn to be appalled. âDonât talk as though weâre having an affair.â
âYuck. As if Iâd ever have an affair with you.â
Zachary hung up the call.
With his enemy slamming the phone ahead of him, Clive removed the phone from his ear and clicked his tongue. Clive mumbled to himself, âI could say the same about you. As if Iâd ever have an affair with you.â
âHoney, who are you having an affair with? Do you have a mistress? Whoâs the miserable wretch?â
Alice heard Cliveâs murmurs as she was coming out of the bathroom. Livid, she charged toward Clive and questioned Clive with a straight face.
She was already unhappy with him.
Clive had time to go to the movies with her for a change to relive their date nights. However, he ended up snoozing off on the chair when they got inside. It riled Alice up.
In the end, they left before the movie finished.
Once out of the movie theater, Clive found his energy back again.
He used to watch even the cringiest romance movies when they first went out. Clive would sit in the movies until the credits rolled and remember the storyline better than she did.
Now that they were married, Clive would doze off the moment he stepped into the theaterâ¦
The difference before and after marriage was huge.
Clive did not bother to act interested anymore.
âAlice, what are you thinking? I was just off the phone with Zachary.â
Alice widened her eyes. âYou were on the phone with Zachary talking about having ari affair. You guysâ¦â
Clive responded, âHoney, where is your mind wandering to? Weâve been married for years. You should know by now that your husband is a straight guy.â
âHow would I know if you swing both ways?â
Clive was speechless.
