Chapter 817
Married at First Sight
âThis is your true personality. Youâre always selfâcentered and lord over everything Youâre overbearing, arrogant, egotistical, and even paranoid!â
Serenityâs words were full of mockery.
That was Zacharyâs character.
He behaved the same way at the beginning of their marriage. Even if he pretended to be an ordinary person, his mannerisms were ingrained in him and could not be changed.
It was only after the coupleâs feelings warmed up and they had two conflicts that his overbearing self improved slightly.
Now, he revealed his true colors again.
It was suffocating to be with a Zachary York like that.
That was especially true for Serenity, a woman who liked her independence. If she had a conflict with a man like Zachary, the fight would escalate and only worsen.
Zachary clearly wanted to calm Serenity down, but he kept making mistakes that exacerbated his case, causing her anger to soar even higher. There was no way to extinguish the fury now.
âSerenâ¦â
Zachary let her go and instead touched her face lightly, saying as if he was in pain, Donât go to Shawn, okay? It took me a lot of effort to drive him out of Wiltspoon so he wouldnât be able to see you again.
Donât go to him.â
âYou drove Shawn out of Wiltspoon? Did you say something to Aunt Rachel?â
After her questioning, she added wryly, âWhat do I have to be surprised about? I donât even know how many things youâve done behind my back. Heh. Zachary, do you even regard me as your family?
âThen again, Iâm not your family. Women are still outsiders even if they marry into another family.
Theyâre just guests. With what audacity could I expect you to treat me as family⦠You kept so many things from me and lied to me for so long. Youâre just treating me like an outsiderâ¦â
Serenityâs eyes reddened with injustice as she spoke, but she forced herself not to cry.
She did not want to cry in front of Zachary. She did not want to be comforted by a hypocrite like him.
âSeren, youâre my family. Youâre the wife I want to spend the rest of my life with. I know I let you down. I hurt you and destroyed your trust in me, but I promiseâ¦â
Serenity looked at him coldly. The ice and obvious mockery in her eyes made it so Zachary could not finish his sentence.
His promise was not worth anything to her anymore.
Zachary bowed his head, kissed her face and lips, and said, âSeren, the men of the York family never get divorced. Iâll never divorce you!â
Serenity pushed him away and tried to get out of bed. He did not want to divorce, but she did.
Of course, she would not say it out loud now, lest that jerk knock her out again.
She was so angry!
Her neck hurt like hell!
âWhere are you going, Seren? You canât go anywhere!â
Zachary pulled her back in fright and jumped out of bed, hugging her waist from behind.
âLook, Seren. I prepared these money flowers for you. Itâs a Valentineâs Day gift. There are also thirty sets of jewelry so you can wear a different one every day of the month. There are also bags, skin care products, and cosmetics. Donât use the skin care products that Elisa gives you anymore. Your husband can afford them for you.â
He forcefully pulled Serenity to the vanity, picked up two sets of keys on the table, then stuffed them into her hands, saying, âHere are the keys for the villa and car I bought for you.
âDo you like the gifts I got for you, Seren? Itâs my first Valentineâs Day, so I copied what people usually do since I have no experience. Tell me if you donât like them and Iâll get you anything you want as long as I can obtain it.â
He did not dare guarantee things that he could not get.
What if she asked for the stars in the sky?
Serenity took the two bunches of keys and slapped the back of his hand. When he loosened his grip a little, she stepped on his foot so hard that he instinctively jumped up and released her.
She threw the two keyrings to his chest and said coldly, âThank you for the generosity, Mr. York, but I canât afford to accept it!â
Then, she turned to leave.
âSeren!â
âZachary York.â
When Zachary was about to catch up, Serenity stopped, turned around, and coldly warned him, âIf you dare sneak up behind me and knock me out again, Iâll cut ties with you immediately!â
Zachary was too afraid to sneak up on her again.
He also could not bear to knock her out again. He felt distressed because her neck would hurt.
