Chapter 846
Married at First Sight
Zachary glanced at the stack of documents held by Mr. Chaplin and said, âSend them to Callum and tell him to take care of it. If he doesnât dare make a decision, then tell him to ask Nana.
âAlso, tell him that I might only come back to the company occasionally these days. Heâs also a man from the York family, so he should help share the burden of the family business.â
Mr. Chaplin nodded and agreed.
Was the boss going to put aside his work and devote himself to coaxing his wife?
Zachary took large strides to the elevator after instructing Mr. Chaplin.
A few minutes later, he left York Corporation in his car.
At the same time, Mr. Chaplin knocked on Callumâs office door and relayed what Zachary said to him.
Callumâs face fell when he looked at the pile of documents that Mr. Chaplin was holding. Then, he said, âLeave them here. Iâll tell you to get them when Iâm done.â
âThank you, Mr. Callum.
âBy the way, Mr. Zachary said he might only occasionally come to the office these days. He also said that since youâre a man from the York family, you should also share the burden of the family business with him.â
Callum nodded in understanding. âI get it. You can go back to work.â
He had a feeling this would happen.
His eldest brother shifted the burden of the company to his shoulder in order to coax his sisterâinâlaw.
Out of the nine brothers, Zachary and Callum were the core figures in the headquarters. Some of the other brothers were in charge of branch offices, some were in charge of hotel operations, and some did not work in the family businesses at all but started their own businesses instead.
If Zachary was not available, Callum had to take over.
It was his fault for being a bachelor.
He heard that his grandmother had been looking all over for a girlfriend for him recentlyâ¦
Callum suddenly shivered. After seeing how his eldest brother fell in love and lost his cool, Callum decided it was better to stay single.
If he really wanted to get married one day, he would honestly tell his other half his true identity. He would not hide it as his eldest brother did.
In any case, Zachary had become an example for the York family. In the future, they had to be completely honest and sincere in their relationship. They would never dare deceive their partners.
When Josh came back after buying food for Zachary, he saw that the latter had already left. He looked at the food in his hand and muttered, âIf I had known he couldnât wait, I wouldâve sent these to Jasmine instead. Theyâre all her favorites.â
If Zachary were here, he would say, âYou went to buy food for me, but you bought Jasmineâs favorites?
Josh, whereâs your sincerity?â
Zachary rushed back to the villa as fast as he could.
As soon as he entered, he saw the large truck parked in the yard. The truck was filled with cages containing chickens and ducks.
When Zachary walked over, he frowned at the stench and hurried past the truck.
Two women were engaged in a heartâtoâheart talk in the living room.
However, Serenity stopped talking when she heard Zacharyâs footsteps. Jasmine saw him enter and got up to greet him politely. âMr. York.â
âHello, Ms. Sox.â
Zachary responded to Jasmineâs greeting warmly and asked courteously, âWould you like anything to eat, Ms. Sox? Iâll have someone prepare it for you.â
âNo, thank you. I just came to send some small animals to Seren. She said sheâs bored at home and wants to raise some chickens. They can be sold for money when they grow, and she would be able to eat the eggs when the hens lay eggs too since theyâre more nutritious.â
Zachary looked at his beloved wife, but Serenity tensed her face and ignored him.
He stared at her for a long time before turning back to Jasmine. âThank you, Ms. Sox. Itâs fine if Seren wants to rear chickens, but they canât be raised well here. Our family has several orchards. Itâll be better to send those fowls to the orchards and rear them there.â
He walked up to Serenity, and Jasmine sensibly switched places with him. Zachary sat down beside Serenity and tried to hold her hand, but she slapped it away.
