Chapter 880
Married at First Sight
âIt has nothing to do with Zachary. I cut myself by accident.â
Acting like everything was okay, Serenity said to Elisa, âElisa, the thing about me and Zacharyâ¦â
âI donât blame you, Seren. You donât have to explain or apologize to me. Itâs not like we just met. Iâm only furious that Zachary lied to both of us. He made a monkey out of us cousins.â
Moments ago, Jasmine had told Elisa the whole story about Serenity finding out Zacharyâs identity.
Elisaâs heart went out to her cousin who was fooled the whole time.
âSeren, I gave up on Zachary a long time ago. I got over Zachary the moment I found out he was married. I feel more at peace after I backed off and stopped thinking about him for a while. Donât let me come in the way of your decision. Lying aside, heâs someone you can spend the rest of your life with.
âOf course, since he played you like a fiddle, I hope you take your time in forgiving him. At least, make him suffer for a bit.â
Now that Elisa thought about it, she was the older cousinâinâlaw to Zachary now. Elisa could straighten Zachary out for her cousin.
âThatâs what I think, but I wonât interfere with what you think or how you want to deal with the matter.â
Elisa picked her injured finger up for a careful inspection. âThe bleeding doesnât seem to stop. Letâs get you to the hospital. Youâre looking a little pale too.
âIâll drive you to the hospital.â
Serenity refused even though her finger was hurting like hell.
The scissor really drilled deep into her finger. It was a good thing her finger was still intact.
âIâm your cousin, older at that too. You have to listen to me.â
Not taking no for an answer, Elisa dragged Serenity out.
Jasmine was on Elisaâs side, convincing Serenity to clean and redress her injury at the hospital.
Serenity gave in to her best friendsâ persuasion and let Elisa drive her to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Zachary was headed for his office after picking up what was left of his dignity and leaving the bookshop.
Josh was surprised by Zacharyâs return. Ditching the work at hand, Josh rushed to Zacharyâs office.
âWhat brings you back? Didnât you say you wonât be at the office for a while? Look at your scary face.
Donât tell me you had another argument with your wife.â
Josh poured Zachary a glass of water. âHave a drink. Calm yourself down.â
Zachary helped himself to the drink and downed the water before slamming the glass on the table. He remained without a word.
âSay something. Tell me if youâre facing another issue. I told you time and againâyou need to do something about that temper of yours.â
âElisa is back from her travels.â
Josh unconcernedly replied, âSo sheâs back. Are you scared sheâs going to do something to your wife when she finds out? I trust you are capable of protecting your woman.â
Zachary answered, âItâd be easier to handle if she does anything to hurt Serenity, but she didnât. Elisa was furious and criticized me for lying to Serenity. She accused me of making a monkey out of her and Serenity. Things were starting to get slightly better between me and Serenity, but Elisa blew it by turning up and now weâre back to square one.
âSerenity even tried to kick me out! I told her off in the heat of the moment⦠I ran away before I lost my temper and did something to hurt her.â
Josh stared blankly at him.
Hot and bothered, Zachary added, âItâs so hard to appease women! I let her go home with her sister when she wanted to stay with her family. She wanted to cool off, but my presence wasnât a bother to her. Why did she ask me to leave then? I just wanted to see her. Thatâs all.â
âWhat did you say to her?â
âI asked if she cared more about Elisa because sheâd rather have Elisa around instead of me. She always does that to me. She chooses others over me while I always put her first. I guess I canât even compare to Sonny. Well, Sonny is her nephew, so I canât take it to heart, but I canât believe Elisa is more important than me.â
Now that Josh got to the bottom of things, he composedly uttered, âYouâre jealous of Elisa. It did not sit well with Serenity that Elisa gave you a piece of her mind, so she asked you to leave. Yet, you got riled up. Zachary, I donât know how to make this clearer to you.â
