Chapter 904
Married at First Sight
âIâll send him to Serenityâs place. Sheâll take care of him.â
Josh wanted to help his best friend out.
Duncan reminded him, âZachary is drunk and spewing nonsense. If he said those words he said earlier in front of Serenity, it would be adding insult to injury.â
Josh paused. âIâll send him to Wildridge Manor.â
Duncan had no problem with that.
The three of them left the bar. Duncan helped Zachary into Joshâs car, said a few words, and watched Josh drive away. Then, he called for a cab for himself.
On the way back to Yorkâs residence, Zachary occasionally yelled a few times. One moment, it was âSerenity, I love you. Donât leave me.â The next moment, it was, â What else do you want from me? Itâs not like I need you.â
He kept repeating those words.
It was a fight between his love and ego. His love prevailed one moment, and his ego the next.
More than an hour later, Joshâs car arrived at Wildridge Manor. He called Grandma May in advance, so she waited for him at the entrance of the house.
âGrandma May.â
Josh parked the car and called out to the old woman. âSorry for bothering you when itâs so late.â
âNo, Iâm sorry for troubling you to send Zack back this late.â
Grandma May told the bodyguards to help Zachary out of the car. When she saw how he was so intoxicated that he could not even walk, she asked Josh, âHow much did that brat drink?â
âA few bottles. He got so drunk that he started talking nonsense, so I didnât dare send him to Serenity. I was afraid sheâd get angrier if she heard what he said.â
âWhat did he say?â
Josh did not conceal it and told Grandma May the absurdity that Zachary said.
Grandma May snorted. âIâll call him a man if he has the balls to say that in front of Serenity.â
âGrandma May, Zachary is just depressed and venting. When he sobers up tomorrow, heâll cling to Serenity again like gum.â
Grandma May said, âIn vino veritas. You should look up what that means.â
Josh was speechless.
Fortunately, he did not send Zachary to Serenity. Otherwise, like Grandma May, Serenity would think that Zachary was speaking his hidden thoughts after drinking.
âDo you want to come in for a glass of water before you go?â
âNo need, Grandma May. Iâll leave now. I have plans tomorrow.â
Grandma May was aware that Josh was pursuing Jasmine and smiled. âAll right. You go back first.â
After Josh left, she ordered the bodyguards, âMove a deck chair to the swimming pool and let Zack lie there for tonight. The cold will help him sober up.â
âOld Mrs. York,â a bodyguard protested.
Grandma Mayâs expression fell. âDid you not hear what I said? Since he likes to drown his sorrows in alcohol, Iâll help him out. Do as I say. No matter what accident happens tomorrow, he wonât dare do anything to you with me around.â
