Chapter 928
Married at First Sight
Mrs. Stone was at a loss for words.
âSeren, since youâve made up your mind, Iâll sacrifice myself to accompany you and Mom to play pretend with others. On that kind of occasion, everyone puts on an act.â
Mrs. Stone was infuriated by her daughter.
Serenity laughed and said, âIn my opinion, we need to learn to tolerate a lot of things, considering that youâve decided to learn to grow a business.â
âHow great it would be if Elisa is half as understanding as you are.â
Mrs. Stone could not do anything to her daughter. Of course, her daughter had enough capital, so she could act however she wanted without having to make a false show of compliance.
âElisa is great. I like how straightforward Elisa is.â
Elisa lifted her chin complacently and said to her mother, âMom, look, you think Serenity is better than me, but she thinks that Iâm great.â
âOh you, becoming so arrogant with just one compliment.â
The three of them were chatting merrily. With Sonnyâs baby talk in between, the house was filled with laughter.
After a while, a maid walked over and said courteously, âMaâam, dinner is ready.â
Mrs. Stone said to Serenity, âMm. Seren, weâll have dinner first. After that, you can go upstairs and try Elisaâs gowns to see which style suits you. Then, Iâll buy you a few sets of gowns. You can have your hair styled in the afternoon.
âSince youâve chosen to be with Zachary, you shouldnât rely on him and lose your sense of self. You need to make a change.
âBesides, what youâre trying to learn will be useful to your life. Iâll slowly teach you etiquette. Youâre clever, and I believe youâll grasp it in no time.â
Serenity adhered to Mrs. Stoneâs plan and had no comment on it.
She might not be able to embark on the same path as her aunt did, but she could work hard to be more outstanding. That way, she would not hold Zachary back, at least.
âLetâs have dinner, Sonny.â
Mrs. Stone carried Sonny whom she was very fond of. He resembled her sister when she was young. If she put on a skirt for Sonny, he would bear a closer resemblance to her sister.
âMom, is Alice at home?â
âShe said she hasnât been feeling well lately, so she went to the hospital for a check- up. Before Seren came, Alice called to inform me that she would have dinner with. her family after the checkâup. Then, sheâll come back at night.â
Mrs. Stone would not restrict the number of times her daughterâinâlaw visited her mother. She too had a daughter. After her daughter got married, Mrs. Stone would also hope that her daughter could visit her often.
Some wealthy women would impose many restrictions on their daughtersâinâlaw.
âWhy isnât Alice feeling well?â Elisa asked concernedly as she had a good relationship with her eldest sisterâinâlaw.
Serenity was very concerned about Aliceâs condition too.
âShe hasnât given me a call yet. She probably hasnât gotten the report.â
Mrs. Stone said, âThat shouldnât be a big issue. We go for a body checkâup every half a year.â
At the mention of the body checkâup, Serenity recalled what Zachary said to her. She wondered if she should go to the hospital for a checkâup as well.
They sat at the dining table.
As Sonny could eat on his own, he did not need the adults to feed him.
This reduced the hassle for them.
Just as Mrs. Stone lifted her spoon, a maid came in and said politely, âMaâam, Mr. Zachary is here.â
