Chapter 646 - Gao Wanhua’s Support

Gao Wanhua turned her head in the direction of the voice and saw Xia Ning come down the stairs and head toward them.

Rising to her feet, Gao Lihua couldn’t believe her eyes. What was this woman doing here? Seeing that it really was Xia Ning herself, Gao Lihua turned to Gao Wanhua and asked, “Sister, what’s going on here?!”

Gao Wanhua didn’t expect to see Xia Ning show up here too. Seeing the look on her sister’s face, she knew that she couldn’t keep it from Gao Lihua anymore, nor did she want to.

“Xia Ning has been living here for a while. She’s Yu’s girlfriend.” There, she had said it. She wasn’t sure how his son would say about that, but she knew Xia Ning wouldn’t protest.

As a matter of fact, Gao Wanhua had been waiting for Xia Ning to address Qiao Yu as her boyfriend too.

“What did you say?!” Gao Lihua cried out and stared at Gao Wanhua. “Yu is with this woman? That’s impossible!”

Gao Wanhua was displeased. “Watch your language. What’s wrong with them being together?”

“Sister, have you forgotten what her family is like?” Gao Lihua said loudly, acting as if Xia Ning wasn’t in the room.

Gao Wanhua frowned. “What do you mean by that? I don’t care about what her family is like. More importantly, there’s nothing wrong with Xia Ning’s family. Her grandmother was old Mr. Shen’s first wife, which makes Xia Ning and her mother more officially a member of the Shen family than that sister-in-law of yours. Have you been staying with the Shen family for too long to tell right from wrong? From now on, I don’t want to hear another insulting word on Xia Ning from you. It’ll be the same as insulting me.”

Gao Wanhua’s attitude made Gao Lihua realize that she wouldn’t get anywhere with her sister today. She had never expected that Xia Ning was involved with the Qiao family in this way and finally realized why Qiao Yu showed up at the Shen family home the other day. Qiao Yu had fallen out with the Shen family because of Xia Ning!

“Sister, is that what you’re going to do now? Helping this b*tch steal our money?” Gao Lihua glared at Gao Wanhua. “I’m your sister and she’s just some woman Yu sleeps with. Can’t you see you’ve picked the wrong side? How can you let Yu do this?”

“Shut your mouth! You’re a senior member of the family! What you said was highly inappropriate!” Gao Wanhua’s face darkened and she said coldly, “Here’s my verdict. Xia Ning is my daughter-in-law and I don’t want to hear another insulting word from you! Remember that, if you still see me as your sister!”

Xia Ning was moved by Gao Wanhua’s support. No one but her mother had ever done such a thing for her. But she felt guilty at the same time for putting Gao Wanhua in a difficult spot. It seems that the lady had to choose between her sister and the so-called girlfriend of her son.

“Fine! Suit yourself!” Grabbing her bag off the sofa, Gao Lihua threw a dirty look at her sister. “Dad is going to hear about this.” She left after casting a stern look at Xia Ning.

Gao Lihua looked disappointed as she watched Gao Lihua leave. She then turned to Xia Ning. “I’m sorry, Xia Ning. My sister was spoiled. Don’t mind her.”

Xia Ning shook her head. “I’ve long stopped letting such talks bother me. But Auntie, thank you for your support. Apart from my mother, no one has been this kind to me.”

Gao Wanhua was touched and she smiled at Xia Ning. “I’d love to have a daughter like you.
