Back in the living room, Xia Ning stood by the French windows and looked out at the dark night sky. She was lost in her thoughts.

Qiao Yu stood there, watching her from behind. He could sense the cold and detached air she was giving off. It was as if she had closed herself up in her own world, not allowing anything or anyone to disturb her.

What was happening between Mu Zichen and Wen Yue reminded Qiao Yu a lot about the two of them back then. He felt grateful that he married her and kept that baby without hesitation.

Xia Ning smiled. “How do you know what happened to other people won’t happen to us one day?”

Xia Ning didn’t reply. She turned around to leave, but the man held her hand and stopped her.

“My mum is back at the Gao family home today and she’s not coming back tonight. Enoch is upstairs.”

Xia Ning looked down and nodded. “Alright. I’ll go to him.”

Qiao Yu let go of Xia Ning, who went upstairs right away.

Qiao Yu’s face darkened as he watched her from behind. She had been acting strangely ever since she got back today, but he had no idea what had happened.
