Chapter 2143: Try to Spend Some Time Together

Li Gui immediately understood that the person in the private room was the subject of a blind date set up by Xu Lan and Qiao Mei! She had thought that they were joking when they said that they wanted to arrange a blind date for her. She did not expect them to be serious about it!

Before she left, she turned her head to look in Xu Ba’s direction. That person looked very dignified and was definitely a much better person than Zhang Qian. The two men were worlds apart and there was no way to compare the two of them.

Xu Lan grabbed Qiao Mei’s hand happily and said, “I think your mother is just shy! She’s so embarrassed! She probably has a good impression of him!”

“We can let them spend some time together first,” Qiao Mei said with a smile.

Xu Ba stayed inside the private room until the end of the business day. He stood at the entrance of the restaurant and gave Li Gui the lilies he brought as he said, “I don’t know what kind of flowers you like, but I think lilies should suit your temperament, so I brought them with me.”

“Thank you ” Li Gui took the flowers and replied softly.

“It’s late. Let me send all of you back,” Xu Ba said in a gentle tone.

Qiao Mei had driven to the restaurant in her jeep today. Li Gui was about to reject Xu Ba’s offer when Qiao Mei quickly said, “Then the two of you can go back in his car! I’m going to visit Qian’e.”

“Alright! Drive carefully!” Xu Lan said.

Li Gui pulled Xu Lan into the back seat of Xu Ba’s car. Xu Ba did not say anything along the way and it was Xu Lan who kept chatting. When they arrived at their destination, Li Gui stood a distance away and waited for Xu Lan to talk to Xu Ba.

“Sister Xu, thank you for making the arrangements today. Since it’s already so late, it’s probably not a good time for me to ask her out to the movies,” Xu Ba said.

“Do you intend to see her again?” Xu Lan asked, pleasantly surprised.

“Of course,” Xu Ba said.

“Then wait for news from me! I’ll try my best to help you ask her out!” After saying that, Xu Lan left with Li Gui. She kept pestering Li Gui and insisted on them sharing the same bedroom tonight. In the end, Li Gui promised Xu Lan that she would try to get to know Xu Ba better first. After that, she would consider if she wanted to date him.

In the afternoon the next day, Xu Ba drove to the place where he let them off last night and waited for Li Gui. She had made the effort to dress up. She walked over to Xu Ba, wearing a white floral dress and a brown woolen coat. Xu Ba looked dazed as he stared at Li Gui admiringly for a long time.

”  Do I look weird?” Li Gui asked embarrassedly.

“No, this outfit suits you very well.” After saying that, Xu Ba invited Li Gui to get into the car. The two of them went out together for a few hours and Xu Ba sent Li Gui to the restaurant at 5 p.m.

When Li Gui came back, she looked very happy. Qiao Mei nodded with satisfaction. It seemed that this man was able to bring joy to Li Gui.

After that day, Xu Ba would pick Li Gui up at noon every day and send her back before 6 p.m. Sometimes, they would go for a walk in the park, sometimes to the opera house and occasionally to the movies. Anyway, there were many different things they could do on their dates and Li Gui started to smile more and more each day.

Her outlook in life became more and more positive. She even looked a few years younger than before!

After the two of them dated for one week, they started to hear a lot of gossip in the alley. People started recounting all the things which happened to Li Gui in the past. They even said that when Li Gui was held captive in the Zhao Family Village, Zhao Liu had taken advantage of her!
