Qiao Mei held on to her anger and said with a fake smile, “I don’t keep in touch with people in the food and beverage industry. I don’t think there will ever be any collaborations between our businesses since we sell totally different things. There’s no need for us to exchange phone numbers.”

Even though Qiao Mei had already rejected them to this extent, Wang Tian kept a smile on her face. Qiao Mei was really curious about the level of Wang Tian’s mental fortitude.

“Alright then.” Wang Tian left Qiao Mei’s house dejectedly with Wang Kun.

Qiao Mei felt exhausted and went to lay down on the rocking chair by the window. Just as she was about to close her eyes, she saw Xia He standing outside and leaning against the window, asking, “Aren’t you good at this!”

“You run away faster than anyone else when something happens. You still have the cheek to ask me that?” Qiao Mei said resignedly.

“She has totally no interest in me at all. She only has eyes for you and Xia Yuan. She doesn’t even care about Zhou Xi’s existence!” Xia He said.

“She wants to get her hands on Xia Yuan, so she wants to curry favor with me in the process! She’s not interested in me at all!” Qiao Mei said.

“Do you want to come and take a look at the gifts Zhou Xi brought for us? She bought me a set of jewelry! Sapphire jewelry! I still don’t have any sapphires in my jewelry collection. She’s so spot on with her gift!” Xia He said excitedly.

Qiao Mei raised her eyebrows and looked at Xia He. This was the first time she had seen Xia He so excited, but that girl was really not too bad a person. She had already checked on the Zhou family’s background. Although the girl worked in the bank, her salary was not very high. She must have spent a lot on these gifts, unless she had taken these items from the treasures left behind by her ancestors.

“Come, let’s go and take a look,” Qiao Mei said as she picked up a shawl to bring with her.

Xia He had brought Zhou Xi to the study room. Zhou Xi was admiring the calligraphy and paintings in Qiao Mei’s study and was so engrossed that she did not even notice that the two women were outside the door.

“Do you like it that much?” Qiao Mei stood beside Zhou Xi and asked her.

“I do. I’ve had a liking for wild geese since I was young,” Zhou Xi said wholeheartedly.

“Why?” Qiao Mei asked curiously.

“Wild geese are faithful birds. I hope that I’ll have the kind of relationship that the wild geese have,” Zhou Xi said.

Qiao Mei and Xia He did not say anything. At this juncture, it was hard not to wonder if Zhou Xi had another motive for saying this. Zhou Xi also realized it but she remained unaffected since she was simply telling the truth.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

“If you like it, I’ll give it to you. I’ll get someone to take it down later and you can bring it back with you,” Qiao Mei said with a smile. She felt a sense of admiration for Zhou Xi by now.

Zhou Xi walked to the side and sat down. She did not bring out a jewelry box, but produced a document bag that looked to be related to the bank.

“What do you mean by giving me this?” Qiao Mei asked as she examined the bag.

“Sister Qiao Mei, as you know, I work at the bank. I can’t think of anything to give you, so this contract is my gift to you. Whenever you come to do business with our bank, there will always be a VIP channel for you. Other than national projects, you are our top priority,” Zhou Xi said seriously. She certainly did not look like she was joking.

Qiao Mei immediately opened the document bag and read the contract. The contents were just as what Zhou Xi had said. This would be of great help to Qiao Mei.

“Do you… want anything?” Qiao Mei looked at Zhou Xi seriously and asked her.

“No, I don’t. I like Xia Yuan a lot. I just want to be nice to all of you,” Zhou Xi said.

Qiao Mei and Xia He could not see any flaws in Zhou Xi’s facade, but they found it difficult to believe that she really did not want anything in return. It was really incredulous that Zhou Xi would give such expensive first-meeting gifts, especially since the Zhou family was not very well-off.

“Alright then, I’ll accept the gift. I hope you and Xia Yuan will have a blissful life together. You should stay for dinner tonight,” Qiao Mei said gently.

After the meal, Xia Yuan brought Zhou Xi along to talk to Qiao Mei and Xia He.

“Third Cousin-in-law, Second Cousin, I can’t make up my mind about something and want to get your inputs,” Xia Yuan said embarrassedly.

The four of them went to the living room and Qiao Mei started to feel a little tired. Since they were familiar with one another, she just leaned back against the rocking chair and asked, “Let me guess. Are you talking about the meeting between the two sets of parents?”

“Third Cousin-in-law, you’re like a psychic!” Xia Yuan said as he looked at Qiao Mei in shock.
