Chapter 109
THE LYCAN KING’S SECOND CHANCE MATE
ASHANTIâS POV.
THREE HOURS LATER.
I wasnât able to talk to Alpha Reagan the moment I left the dungeon because he was in an important meeting so I was taken to a private lounge in the building to wait for him. I paced about, slept, watched TV, and lost my mind waiting for him.
I need to talk to him. He needs to know that Hayley is innocent. I know as of now, thereâs no evidence to prove that Rhea and Alina are involved in this, but Iâm certain that if an investigation is carried out, they will find something that links those girls to this crime.
They canât go Scottâfree this time around. They need to be punished!
Ashanti!â
Iâm startled out my skin when someone suddenly calls my name from the door. I lifelessly turn around to look and there comes Alpha Reagan, breezing into the lounge in all his glory.
âAlpha Reagan,â I call, sucking in a deep breath. He stops a few meters away from me and trains his eyes on my face. This lounge is quite spacious, but now that heâs in here with me, I feel like the walls of the room have closed in on us and thereâs barely any space to move. The room suddenly feels so tight and full of his scent.
Iâm supposed to have evaporated into nothingness by now. How am I still standing here?
âYou wanted to see me?â
âYes. I uhâ¦â I thread my fingers through my hair and exhale heavily. âI wanted to see you.
âIâm here and you have my undivided attention.â He says it so cooly, blood sings in my veins.
I have his undivided attention.
I wish 1 tell him not to say things like that because when he does, it makes my heart beat out of coâ¦rol and puts naughty thoughts in my head.
âRight,â I whisper. âAlpha Reagan.â I take two steps closer to him. âThis might sound absurd, but Iâ¦
I think⦠no⦠not I think⦠Iâ¦uhâ¦â
âAshanti,â The Man calls my name in the calmest voice ever. I stop blabbering and look at him. He smiles and my jelly knees almost give way for me to reach the ground. I have to muster up all my strength to keep myself standing.
Iâm going to die by simply standing in front of this man.
âRelax⦠calm down and tell me what it is you want to tell me.â I nod my head and take in a deep breath, hoping itâll calm my raging nerves, but that doesnât happen. My bones are snapping into fragments within and nerves are all over the place. Iâm going to pass out soon. Take in a deep breath and say what you want to say.â I take in another deep breath and train my eyes on him.
Despite the war going on in my body, I have talk. Someoneâs life is on the line here. This isâ not the time for me to get anxious.
âAlpha Reagan.â I start all over. He simply nods his head. âHayley is innocent.â His eyes widen in shock, then darken when my words settle in his brain.
âWhat do you mean Hayleyâs innocent? Isnât she the same girl who drugged you with orange juice?â
âShe didnât know it was drugged.â
âOf course she didnât!â He replies sarcastically. I sigh heavily.
âLook. It might sound like bullshitâ¦â
âIt is bullshit, Ashanti. That girl is not innocent.â
âYes, she is. She was bullied into doing it and Iâm pretty sure if proper investigation is carried out, the other girls involved in this will be revealed.â
âSo tell me, do you have anyone in mind?â
I go mute.
I honestly want to shout out Alinaâs name because I know sheâs the Mastermind of all this, but when I remember the fact that no evidence points to her, I have to rethink. Alina is from a powerful background. If I dare accuse her of something like this and after an investigation, itâs confirmed that sheâs innocent, her family wonât stop until they drive me under. I need to be very careful, so I shake my head.
âNot really, but I knowâ¦â My words are cut short by the sound of Alpha Reaganâs ringtone. He looks at his phoneâs screen before looking back at me.
âI have to take this. Itâs important.â
âSure.â He walks further away from me to answer the call. I drown myself in my thoughts once more.
Poorly Hayley. If careâs not taken, sheâll be punished for something she did not do. I have to try as much as I can so sheâ¦.
