Chapter 145
THE LYCAN KING’S SECOND CHANCE MATE
Chapter 0145
This is going to be a great ride.
âThank you for letting me come with you,â 1 tell him once Iâm settled. My hands are stationed on my lap, with my fingers intertwined.
âOh, itâs nothing. I should be the one thanking you for accepting to keep me company.â I spot his cute dimple when he smiles again. He ignites the car engine and kicks off when the car roars to life.
âYou look beautiful this morning.
Oh, shoot!
Another man to make me blush my life away again.
âThank you.

âI donât think you understand. You have a certain glow on your face today like something really exciting happened to you.â He shoots me a glance before looking at the road. Nervousness coils in my stomach as horror skates through me.
Something exciting.
Is it that obvious?
I chuckle awkwardly to ease the tension rising in my chest.
âNothing exciting happened.â I lie. âIâm just you know⦠glowing for nothing.â
âI highly doubt that, but okay. Iâll take your word for it.â
âThank you.â
âBut your eyes though. They are sad. Is something bothering you?â
Is this man a psychic?
âUh no.â I lie again. âIâm cool.â
âThatâs a lie. Tell me whatâs bothering you. I wonât stop asking until you tell me what I need to hear.â
And I know heâs serious about that. I let out a sigh and trained my eyes on him.
âMy friends are avoiding me. Nelly and Tessa, just woke up one day and decided to stop
âding to me.â
âDid you do anything to offend them?â
âI donât think so. No matter how much I think, I canât recall anything I did to upset them.â
âSo why would they just stop talking to you?â He shoots me a brief glance.
âI feel like they are being influenced by someone. Because I know Tessa all too well. If I had offended her, she would have told me that same moment. Sheâs not the time to store things. and hold grudges. For Nelly, I donât know her too well, but I think she would do the same. Thatâs why I think someone has a role to play in their sudden cold attitudes towards me.â

âDo you have anyone in mind?â
âWellâ¦â I slur. My heart rate picks up. How am I supposed to call his sisterâs name? âI do. But I have no proof, so Iâd rather not call out the names.â
âSmart.â He says, nodding. âIâll see what I can do about that. Okay?â
âWhat do you intend to do?â
âI donât know yet, but Iâll try my best to get to the root of the issue. How does that sound?â
âIt sounds awesome. Thank you.â Iâm beaming like a light ray.
âYouâre welcome.â A moment of silence goes by. âWould you like to listen to some music?â He breaks the silence.
âAh⦠yea. I would very much love that.â
âCool. Pick up my phone.â He points to the console box which contains his phone, two watches, and other items. I pick up the phone and he presses a button on the music system area. âTurn on my Bluetooth and connect with the car. Name is Kyle.â I do as told and soon, itâs connected. âNow youâre free to play any song you want.â
âThank you.â I smile as I go to the music app on the phone and choose a song to play.
Throughout the ride, none of us say anything to each other. He has his eyes on the road while I quietly listen to the music playing.
This is why I like this man. He always lets me have my way when Iâm with him.
âWeâre here.â He stops In Front of a tall building and I pause the music.
âShould I get out?â
âThereâs no need for that.â He opens his window and soon, a man shows up.
âGood day, Delta Kyle. The documents you asked for.â The man hands him a brown envelope which he opens and goes through its contents. When heâs done, he looks at the man again.
âThank you, Cole. That will be all. You are dismissed.â
Thank you, Delta.â The man bows curtly and leaves. Kyle closes the window. The file goes. straight to the backseat and my mouth keeps itching for me to ask what it is, but I know better than to do that.
Ashanti. Do you have any prior engagements for the day?â He asks with raised brows. I shake my head.
âNot really.â
âGreat! So weâll be spending the day together!â
âSpending the day together?â I am confused.
âYeah.â He starts the car and drives away. âWeâll start by visiting a seafood restaurant. How does that sound?â
âUh⦠yummy!â
âI know, right?â He drives on and I lean against the backrest of my chair with my head
spinning like a rollercoaster and my heart threatening to hop out of my chest.
I will be spending the entire day with the Delta.
That sounds terrifying!
