Chapter 22- Surprise Birthday Party

I wore the dress that Chase gifted me and went out to the hall and no one was there. The whole staff was told to get ready and be at the hall.

I looked up and saw Chase standing near the stairs, looking down at me with a smile playing on his lips.

"Hey," he said, coming downstairs to me and taking my hand in his.

"Hey," I muttered under my breath and held onto his hand.

Since when do I hold hands and be romantic? This boy has done something to me which is effective.

"You look beautiful," he said, caressing my cheeks slowly.

"Thank you and so do you," I replied and he chuckled.

"I look beautiful?" He asked.

"No, I mean yeah, actually no," I stuttered and he just stood there looking at me with amused expressions.

"You're laughing? I'm not talking to you," I said as I let go of his hand and turned to the other side.

"No no I'm sorry," he said, making me face him again.

I didn't face him, I looked away. When he tried to appear in front of me, I would simply look down or look to the side.

"C'mon Olive I'm sorry," he said, holding onto my shoulders.

"I just meant that you look nice too," I explained and he listened.

"Yeah but you said I looked beautiful too," he said, innocently.

"I used to say that," I said and his eyes tried searching for mine.

"Used to? What happened?" He asked.

Should I tell him about Richard or is it a bad idea? Maybe he'll understand why I am what I am today.

"Well I used to be all bright and shiny but then times change which changes people and it certainly changed me," I explained and he seemed a bit confused.

"Well I like you the way you are. You always had a wall surrounding you but I know how to pass it now. I have passed it and the inner you is beautiful, you should show it to others more," he said and then Mr. Chivalry came downstairs.

"Olive? What a pleasure but how come you are the only one working?" He asked and I faced Chase who didn't say anything. Mr. Chivalry doesn't know about the surprise birthday party yet. Well it's going just like the plan.

"Uh- I was just leaving," I said, pointing to the door.

"You look nice today and so do you Chase," he said and we were taken aback. Not that he won't notice that we were dressed up.

"Thank you Mr. Chivalry," I replied.

"Got anywhere to go?" He asked and I quickly looked at Chase.

"Uh- yeah we're going on a date," Chase spoke and my eyes widened.

"Oh that's amazing Chase. I won't mind if Olive is my daughter in law," he said which took me off guard.

I choked on air when he said that. I looked at him, horrified while Chase gave me a small smile. He wanted to marry me? Probably was trying to keep a straight face so Mr. Chivalry won't be creeped out.

"Uh- why don't we go?" I said, breaking the silence and Chase quickly walked towards me.

"Where?" Mr. Chivalry asked.

"To- to- to," I started but couldn't think of anything. I suddenly elbowed Chase when Mr. Chivalry wasn't looking.

"To the date," Chase spoke quickly. I looked at him in disbelief. He comes up with the worst excuses.

"Why would I want to be the third wheel on your date? You guys go I'll go home by myself," he spoke slowly. He expected us to wish him but no one did. I felt really bad for him.

"No I'll drop you," he said as he pulled Mr. Chivalry to the car with us.

"Why not walk?" Chase suggested.

"Walk home? You do know how far home is from here right? We won't make it till tomorrow morning," Mr. Chivalry exaggerated.

"No need to exaggerate dad it'll take an hour at most and Olive and I love walks on out dates," he spoke, looking at me.

"Fine," Mr. Chivalry said as we walked down the street and the hall was there.

I took my phone out and texted Rhea that we were just outside and about to walk in. She replied back in a second saying come fast.

I cleared my throat and glanced at Chase. He understood me and took me. Chivalry to the hall.

"Let's get a drink first," he stated.

Mr. Chivalry smiled and pushed the door open, revealing a dark room. Suddenly lights turned on and everyone jumped saying "Happy Birthday!"

We walked over to Mr. Chivalry whose eyes held tears and his lips had a huge smile. "Is this for me?" He asked us and we nodded.

He quickly pulled us into a hug and the others dispersed through the hall. It was a huge hall with many stalls such as a bar, it's own dancing place, food court and resting area.

Mr. Chivalry walked inside and hugged Jeremy and Rhea and went off to the bar to get drinks.

"Look who decided to wear something other than black," I said, looking at Rhea who kept looking at the door.

"Same goes for you," she replied searching for someone.

"Looking for Sameer?" I asked and she nodded.

"Look behind you," I stated and Sameer was standing behind her. She smiled and hugged him. She looked back at me and smiled before going to the bar with Sameer.

"I had to tell you something Chase," I told Chase.

"Yeah?" He asked.

"Cherry wanted us to go to a dinner date with him," I stated and his eyes widened.

"Double date?" He asked.

"Yeah,"  I replied.

"Who's going?" He asked.

"Cherry, me, krystle and you," I replied.

"Who's Krystle?" He asked.

"Someone," I replied, not saying anything else.

"That's not fair and you better be my date," he stated, pulling me to him.

"We'll see," I said, trying to get out of his grip.

"May I have this dance?" He asked, extending his arm.

"You know I haven't danced this much in my entire life that I have in these couple of weeks?" I replied and he chuckled as I placed my hand in his.

We went to the dance floor and saw many other dancing and we joined them. Chase seemed happy by everything and I was happy seeing him happy.

When we danced, he pulled me to him because it was one of the steps and we had to stay like that for a while then turn our partners to other people.

His forehead touched mine and I smelled his strong cologne. It smelled like him, like home. I breathed in before smashing my lips onto his.

At the first kiss I felt something melt inside me that hurt in an exquisite way. All my longings, all my dreams and sweet anguish, All the secrets that slept deep within me came awake, Everything was transformed and enchanted, everything made sense.

It wasn't that long, and it certainly wasn't the kind of kiss you see in movies these days, but it was wonderful in its own way, and all I can remember about the moment is that when our lips touched, I knew the memory would last forever.

They finally kissed, OMG! I'm so happy for them! Yay! Finally Olive accepted that she truly like chase and he made her happy.
