Chapter 30

𝟙.𝟙𝟙: 𝕎𝕖'𝕣𝕖 𝔾𝕠𝕟𝕟𝕒 ℕ𝕖𝕖𝕕 𝔸 𝕊𝕡𝕠𝕥𝕝𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥

You're my humanity ; Hope Mikaelson ✔︎

—Narrator's perspective—

The bell was ringing, indicating that something happened. Arabella shot her eyes open after Hope threw a pillow on her face. She groaned and used her vampire speed to get to the hallways.

"Sounds like the trap worked." Hope said, looking over at Alaric who held a crossbow and Dorian. She grabbed a knife and they all went outside, ready to fight what ever monster is out there.

Arabella has yet to collect herself of her humane and followed in pursuit. Still feeling the need to unleash some of her anger on the monster who ruined her sleep. When they got in the woods, she came back to her senses immediately.

"I know this isn't important. But you couldn't have put pants on first?" Hope exclaimed, walking faster than usual to catch the monster. Arabella snickered when she noticed it as well.

"Little early for snark, Hope." Ric said, crossbow against his chest and ready to be shot at whomever.

"Any guesses on what famous monster from filmland we get to slay today?" Dorian, being the one to lead them to the urn, said.

"As long as I get to kill it, we're good." Arabella answered and all of them agreed of her statement.

Alaric scoffed. "With our luck, it'll be Cthulhu." They stopped walking when a horse from a distant sputtered.

"False alarm. It's just a horse." They walk by the edge of the barrier, looking at the white horse inside of it.

Arabella yawned, hugging herself from the cold while they talked. "Except we don't have a white horse." Hope pointed out and gasped when the, now, unicorn made its way to them. Alaric pulled his gun up, and Dorian got ready. "Hey, wait wait. Hold your fire." She went in front of them.

"It's a monster, love. Kill it so I can go back to sleep." Arabella said and immediately turned to look the other way when Hope glared at her.

"You're not seriously suggesting we kill a unicorn?" She exclaimed to the two adults.

"I'm suggesting we don't give it a pass because it's cute." Dorian remarked, still having his weapon up just in case.

Hope frowned. "Can't we just... leave it alone? It's trapped, It's not going anywhere, It's harmless." She defended and the other three seemed to take it as a powerful enough reason to let it be.

They didn't notice how the unicorn spewed out a very not harmless slug and made its way to them, specifically, Hope.

"Hope's right. As long as we keep it alive, other creatures won't be coming for the urn. So we just stay alert and let it be." Alaric said, all of them looking at the creature on front

"All right then. I'll be on alert back in bed." Dorian turned his heel around, sighing and left them alone, Arabella closely trailing by him.

"Okay, what the hell are you doing?" Arabella asked when she felt Hope kissing her cheek multiple times before pulling away completely. "Guys help." She turned to Landon and Rafael who just laughed.

"Morning beautiful." She whispered and sat besides her cheerfully of this morning. "You too, Landon, Raf." She greeted and smiled wide. "Mmm. Sweet, sweet carbs." Hope said and ate a piece of the pastry that was supposed to be Arabella's to eat but didn't mind.

"Somebody's in a really good mood." Raf pointed out, confused of Hope's behaviour.

Hope hummed. "Just woke up on the right side of the bed, I guess." She informed.

"I don't remember you being too cheerful when you wake up?" Arabella asked, suspicious of her girlfriend's behaviour today. She didn't mind that she was acting like this, moreover surprised.

"You're funny. That's why I love you." She said like it was nothing and went back to smiling.

Arabella mumbled an 'okay', exchanging looks with the other boys who seemed to take note of her strange attitude as well. They saw the Saltzman twins making their way to them, Bella already prepearing for a meltdown happening between Lizzie and Hope.

"Good morning, Rafael." Lizzie said in a weird tone, looking at the wolf completely.

"Hi." He said too. "Uh, how was your trip?" Raf asked, igniting a conversation so it wouldn't fuse the tension.

"Excellent. Thank you. And welcome back, Landon." Josie said, looking over the boy who gave her a confused glance.

"Didn't you vote me out?" He asked making Arabella stiffle a cough coming up her throat.

"That's all in the past." Lizzie spoke. "Now, is everyone as excited as I am about tonight?" She asked.

Landon asked what was happening tonight and Hope answered for him. "The school's annual talent show. All the factions compete. You know, the witch performance wouldn't be the same without you two." She turned to the twins, shocking the blonde besides her.

"Thank you." Josie said with a small smile.

The bell chimed, gaining their attention. "If I could have your attention. Last night we were able to capture a monster here on the grounds. We have everything under control. But Given this potential danger, it is with heavy a heart that I must postpone the talent show." When Alaric said that, students began to groan. "Hopefully, we'll be able to reschedule this... unique event at a later date. A much, much later date."

"Kind of overkill if you ask me. I told your dad that a unicorn barely counts as a monster." Hope informed and turned back to talk to the three.

☘︎︎

There was a musical chime again. "Good news, friends. The talent show is going on as previously scheduled." Lizzie's voice spoke through the intercoms.

Arabella clicked her tongue, not really interested in joining the talent show or even watch. She was leaning the side of her head on her hand while she fidgeted with her pen on her right hand. The schoolworks she was given was honestly a big pain.

She overheard from someone that Hope offered Landon for them to do a talent. It didn't bug her as much because Hope knew that Arabella hated doing anything that consists of doing anything in public. When the teacher dismissed them, she stood up and left the class, strap of her bag hung on her shoulder.

"Hey! Uh, Arabella wait." Landon called out making her stop in her tracks and turn around. "I need to tell you something."

"Oh hey. I've been meaning to talk to you as well." She started and they moved to the side of the halls to talk. "I know that you and Hope had something in the past and I wanted to apologise for pushing myself in her life just like that—"

"—No no that's not a problem. I'm happy for you two." He said, cutting her off before she could even rant again. Arabella sighed in relief. "I'm talking about how Hope invited me for the talent show. Is that okay with you? I mean, what's going on with her lately?"

Arabella sighed, shrugging. "I have no idea, Lan. And sure you two can do the talent show. I have no intention on joining anyways and if it makes her happy, then I'm gonna sit this one out." She finished and looked past him seeing the Mikaelson waking their way. "It's really great to know that there wasn't any bad blood between us when Hope and I got together. Looks like she's ready to sweep you up your feet." She pointed behind him, Landon turning around and it was her cue to bolt.

The Blonde was suppose to head to the memorial library but she heard Kaleb telling everyone they should sing. She already regretted on ever getting close and quickly turned away to leave.

"Hey you." Hope rounded the corner and finally found Arabella. "I was looking everywhere." She whined and wrapped her arms around the girl's neck.

"Well, I'm here? You needed something?" She asked with a smile, holding the girl's waist to steady herself.

"Nothing. I actually just wanted to say how deeply in love I am with you." Said Hope who had a smile the entire time. "Your eyes are much more breathtaking if I keep staring at it for long, you know?" She said randomly.

Arabella chuckled, forgetting the fact that Hope had a case of changing behaviour. "What's gotten into you? It's not like I don't mind, but why?"

"Oh nothing." Hope giggled and stare at her eyes more clearly. "Also, There's something bugging my head for a long time and I think you need to know." She started, still holding a smile when Arabella told her what was it. "I don't think I would ever get rid of a voice telling me it's a bad idea for me to get into a relationship. You know? There was something inside me telling me I should stay as far away as possible from you but I can't so that's why I'm here."

Arabella dropped her hands on her waist, feeling her mood died down when Hope finished talking. She was about to ask why when she saw Alaric calling for her to come over. Hope already left for the kitchen on cake decorating with Landon.

"What's up?" Arabella asked exhaling, looking over Emma with a weirded out look of her attitude. "Is she all right?" She pointed at the witch who looked drunk.

"Brilliant, Ara." Emma said with a smile and Alaric put himself forward.

"Yeah everything's fine. I just need you to keep an eye out for anything. There's a caged unicorn in our backyard." He said and got pulled away when Emma got bored. "I'll come back later!" Alaric shouted and was already out of the door.

Arabella mumbled an 'okay' before surging her steps forward to leave. Her mind went back to Hope and what she told her. She couldn't even possibly think about the tribrid on wanting to break up after they just told each other the L word.

Then again, this is a strange world and nobody really knows what Hope Mikaelson is thinking all the time.
