Chapter 1120 - Who’s Your Daddy
Hello, Mr. Major General
Huo Shaoheng nodded while he moved the cursor to the invalid phone number under the invalid IP address, âThis phone number is supposedly an international number, but a four-digit phone number cannot possibly be an international number. It canât even be a domestic number. But some extensions can be four digits.âAs everyone knew, extensions could only be connected within a unitâs phone line, so it was impossible to directly connect a call using an extension.
Gu Nianzhi had never seen this phone number before, so she was very shocked, âReally? So whatâs going on then? Who used this phone number?â
Huo Shaoheng told Gu Nianzhi about Hong Kangquan and Tan Dongbangâs connections to this phone number. Then he said, âBoth clearly stated that they had received many calls from that number and also called that number many times. But the strange thing was, I couldnât find any call records related to this number on their phones. There are no records of any calls coming in or being made. I even asked someone to investigate the telecommunication companyâs records, but there was nothing there either.â
Gu Nianzhi thought this sounded somewhat familiar.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
She quietly thought about it for a second, then quietly said, âHuo Shao, do you think that weâve come across this situation before?â
Huo Shaoheng, â...â
As soon as Gu Nianzhi said this, Huo Shaoheng also thought it sounded a bit familiar, â...Youâre talking about my uncleâs phone?â
Gu Nianzhi nodded with a smile, âI remembered that we found text messages on his phone, but we couldnât find any sources. It was like they appeared out of thin air and onto a phone that hadnât been connected for over ten years. The telecommunications company couldnât find any records of it either.â
Hypothetically speaking, the telecommunications company should always have a record when cellphones received or sent out any text messages.
There was typically no reason to investigate, but it would take no time to complete if it was required.
Huo Shaohengâs brows knitted into a deep frown as he looked at the two numbers in deep thought for a while. He asked, âNianzhi, can you check where this invalid IP is from?â
Gu Nianzhi shook her head regretfully, âNo, I tried for a long time but had no luck at all. It would be possible to trace this if it was a fake IP but an invalid IP would be impossible since itâs invalid to begin with. That means it doesnât even exist online and canât be tracked at all.â
There was some basis to a fake IP, but an invalid IP broke internet IP protocols. In other words, this was something that existed outside protocols and was impossible to trace.
However, Huo Shaoheng got another idea when he heard what Gu Nianzhi said.
He praised her, â...Does that mean if we also knew how to go online using an invalid IP, then we wouldnât have to worry about our own IP being discovered? Is this the true way of protecting the privacy of online users.?
Gu Nianzhi was also used to being a hacker, so she understood right away.
Her dark, jade-like eyes sparkled with great surprise, âThatâs right! Why didnât I think of that? If we can actualize and master this invalid IP technology, then it would truly be the strongest weapon for hackers! Hahahaha, my daddy doesnât need to worry about me getting caught as a hacker!â
Huo Shaoheng, â...Whoâs your daddy?â
Gu Nianzhi, â...â
âShouldnât you actually say that my mommy doesnât need to worry about me getting caught as a hacker?â Huo Shaoheng replied leisurely, âOr maybe you could say that Huo Shao doesnât need to worry about...â
âHmph!â Gu Nianzhiâs face turned red while she grumbled quietly at Huo Shaoheng, âWhy would you tease me about something like that?â
âFine then, but I wasnât actually joking.â Huo Shaoheng pulled her down to her seat, âBut think about it carefully, you blurted out the word, âdaddy,â so does it mean you donât have any memory of your mommy at all?â
Gu Nianzhi cocked her head in thought for some time before spreading her palms and saying, âActually, I donât have any memory of my daddy either. I only subconsciously blurted it out earlier. As to why I didnât say mommy, I have no idea either.â
Huo Shaoheng looked at her quietly for a while. He smoothed her long hair, âFine then, you donât need to think about this if you canât remember it. Go home and get some rest, youâll be preparing to go back to work at the Senate tomorrow.â
He didnât think he could allow Gu Nianzhi to be alone with her thoughts, so it was better for her to go to work and do things.
Gu Nianzhi nodded, âIâll be going back to work tomorrow, so Iâm planning to move back to my apartment in Hepingli.â
That was the apartment she bought.
Although Huo Shaoheng would miss her, he didnât stop her either. He only said, â...Iâll go over and spend time with you on the weekends.â
Gu Nianzhi curled her lips, âYou should call me before you come over.â
Huo Shaoheng closed his eyes and nodded slowly.
Gu Nianzhi left the Central Control Room then went to Huo Shaohengâs official residence to pack her things.
Early the next morning, Huo Shaoheng drove a normal-looking black Mercedes SUV to take Gu Nianzhi to the Senate. She was there to end her vacation and get back to work.
When they arrived at the entrance of the Senate building, Gu Nianzhi got out of the car alone. Huo Shaoheng brought her things to Hepingli.
As a result, no one saw Huo Shaoheng bring her there.
Gu Nianzhi took the elevator to the Secretariat floor of the Senate building. She greeted everyone with a smile and finally arrived at Special Assistant Zhuangâs office before knocking on the door, âSpecial Assistant Zhuang, I am fine now and am ready to work.â
Special Assistant Zhuang looked up to see Gu Nianzhi come in, so he happily got up from behind the desk. He stood at the door to shake her hand, âWelcome back, Miss Gu. We can sign your contract today.â
Gu Nianzhi nodded with a smile, âActually, I still need to take an exam after signing the contract, so I donât even know the point of signing it. What if I donât pass the exam? Wouldnât you be stuck between a rock and a hard place?â
Special Assistant Zhuang put both hands in his pockets and laughed so hard he nearly buckled, âActually, there is no need for you to worry. Even if you donât pass, we are certainly going to be hiring you. Documents are only legally binding if they are signed, so exam results are only for reference.â
Gu Nianzhi was actually only joking as well.
As a top student, she feared nothing less than exams.
What was too difficult to understand for someone who could glance at a book and earn top scores?
After Gu Nianzhi greeted him, she turned and immediately saw Rong Mingxing hugging an envelope and standing adjacent to her.
Gu Nianzhi had no idea how long Rong Mingxing had been sitting there for, so she nodded as a hello.
She didnât think that Rong Mingxing would force a smile at her and although it was very rigid, it was still considered a smile. She appeared somewhat timid and even took the initiative to greet Gu Nianzhi, âMiss Gu, have your injuries healed?â
Although Gu Nianzhi was feeling very shocked, she didnât reveal it in her expression at all. She nodded with a smile, âIâm fine now, thanks for asking.â
She walked away without turning. Rong Mingxing gaped her mouth but didnât manage to call out after her.
Gu Nianzhi had only arrived at her tiny office for a short time before Reinitz came to visit her.
Reinitz couldnât go upstairs, so he called her from the main floor.
âCereus, Iâm going back to Germany tomorrow. Before I go, I want to treat you to dinner and thank you for taking care of me over the last few days.â
Reinitzâs voice was a classic male baritone, but his tone was so gentle that the rigid sounding German language was transformed into vivid and passionate sounds.
It was like a feather brushing over Gu Nianzhiâs cheek.
Gu Nianzhiâs ears were starting to burn from listening to him and even though she had originally planned on rejecting his offer, Reinitz continued to say, â...Did your people arrest Hong Kangquan? I heard that he had not only contacted the Japanese but had also reached out to the Americans.â
