Chapter 1625 - I Don’t Want an Umbrella
Hello, Mr. Major General
Gu Nianzhi lifted her chin slightly in the direction of the Ace of the Far Eastâs gentle hand gesture. Her jet-black eyes glanced at him from between her long eyelashes that were as black as a crowâs wing.
She looked down at the travel bag that the the Ace of the Far East had placed beside her feet. She slapped his hand away and said calmly, âNarcissism is an illness that needs to be cured. Actually, Iâm here to get black pork and caviar.â
Gu Nianzhi took a step back and handed the umbrella in her hand over. She smiled sweetly. âHere, thank you for bringing us a gift from so far away. This umbrella is our thanks for returning the favor.â
The Ace of the Far East raised an eyebrow and retracted his hand. He leaned against the big tree behind him and chuckled aloofly. âReally? I was going to give you the black pork and caviar for free, but Lawyer Gu gave me an umbrella instead. Iâve got a bargain.â
His baritone voice, which used to be cold and unfriendly, actually sounded warm in the silent snowy night.
Gu Nianzhi looked up at him.
Her once clear eyes had now become a deep pool, burying all her emotions and worries in it.
âWell, itâs good that youâve got a bargain. I never owe anyone favors.â Gu Nianzhi still stretched out her hand and handed the umbrella over.
The back of her hand was fair and delicate, and giving off a distinct temptation of black and white, contrasted with the black handle of the umbrella.
The Ace of the Far Eastâs Adamâs apple bobbed up and down. He also reached out and grabbed the umbrella handle with Gu Nianzhiâs hand.
Gu Nianzhiâs small hand was in the palm of his large hand, and she suddenly felt that his palm was burning.
Gu Nianzhi felt it, and shebecame more certain. However, an impatient expression appeared on her face. She struggled in his palm and scolded him in a low voice, âLet go of me!â
The Ace of the Far East let go of his hand and bent down to pick up the bag. He said, âItâs a little heavy. Iâll take it to the elevator and then Iâll leave.â
Gu Nianzhi took advantage of his bending down to make a quick grimace.
When he straightened up, Gu Nianzhi said with a straight face, âNo need, I can take it myself.â
As she spoke, she took a step forward to take the bag from the Ace of the Far East.
âYou really want to take it?â The Ace of the Far East looked at her in amusement. âWhy donât you try it?â
He placed the bag on the ground and gestured for Gu Nianzhi to carry it herself.
Gu Nianzhi snorted lightly and bent down to carry the bag.
She almost straightened her back when she grabbed it.
She gritted her teeth and tried again with both hands, but it still didnât work. She couldnât lift it at all.
It was as heavy as a bag full of big rocks.
Gu Nianzhi even had the urge to open the bag to see what was inside.
Just then, she heard the Ace of the Far Eastâs clear and pleasant low laughter coming from above her.
He followed suit and bent down. His arm went around Gu Nianzhiâs slender waist, and he lifted the bag with one hand.
His other hand took the umbrella from Gu Nianzhiâs hand and turned to her side to shield her from the wind and snow. He said, âIâll take you home.â
Seeing Gu Nianzhiâs hesitation, the Ace of the Far East sighed. âOkay, Iâll only take you to the elevator. I wonât make things difficult for you.â
It sounded like she was making things difficult for him.
Gu Nianzhi chuckled and said, âActually, as long as you promise to cook for my dad and me, you can go to my house. I donât understand why you wonât cook.â
âHow can I cook if I donât know how to cook? How can I let you eat such disgusting food? Why waste food?â The Ace of the Far East said as he walked with her to the apartment she lived in.
The snow was getting heavier and the ground was already covered.
Half of her foot was covered by the snow.
Gu Nianzhi curled her lips and said aloofly, âI have to eat it to know if itâs delicious or disgusting. Iâve never eaten your food, so how do you know if I can eat it?â
âI only know how to cook instant noodles and instant dumplings. Do you really want to eat it? Iâll cook it for you.â The Ace of the Far East was very calm. With one hand carrying his travel bag and the other holding an umbrella, he walked steadily beside her.
Half of the heavy snow was covered by the umbrella above her head, and the other half was covered by the Ace of the Far Eastâs tall body. Gu Nianzhi did not have any snowflakes on her body at all.
The two of them actually walked out of the snow with a sense of peace.
Gu Nianzhi smiled and chatted with him. âDidnât you go back to Moscow? Why did you come back all of a sudden?â
âYou saw it?â The Ace of the Far East smiled bitterly. âI had no choice. I was caught on a business trip at the last minute. I didnât expect something like this to happen.â
The murder of two Soviet leaders in the United States was big news that shocked the world.
Gu Nianzhi nodded. âI also saw that you seemed to be injured.â
She glanced at his left arm, which was holding an umbrella. âAre you okay?â
The Ace of the Far East shook his head nonchalantly. âItâs just a small injury. Iâm already fine.â
Gu Nianzhi nodded and said nonchalantly, âYou have to be careful too.â
The Ace of the Far East paused in his steps and smiled at her. âYou care about me that much? Huh?â
Gu Nianzhi couldnât help rolling her eyes. âCanât you think about how I almost died trying to save you? Shouldnât you be more careful? Or else I would have saved you for nothing.â
The Ace of the Far East snored for some reason. âOkay, I got it.â
When Gu Nianzhi came out, she felt that the journey was extremely long. It took her half an hour to reach the entrance of the residential area.
But this time, she walked backwards and seemed to reach the elevator of her apartment building in the blink of an eye.
The Ace of the Far East watched as she pressed the password and followed her into the elevator.
Gu Nianzhi: â...â
What happened to only reaching the elevator?
The Ace of the Far East smiled and explained, âItâs too heavy. You wonât be able to carry it out even if you go to the elevator.â
Gu Nianzhi really couldnât carry the bag. She didnât want to ask Lu Jin to come down and carry it, so she had to press the button on the floor with her head down.
The elevator went straight to her floor.
The elevator door opened with a ding and they arrived at her apartment.
Gu Nianzhi opened the door and was about to say, âLetâs call it a dayâ, but the Ace of the Far East, carrying a duffel bag in one hand and an umbrella in the other, had already walked past her briskly as he strode into her apartment.
Gu Nianzhi: â...â
She stood at the door and frowned. âMr. Peter, arenât you being a little too much?â
He had actually managed to get into her apartment one step at a time.
The Ace of the Far East did not seem to hear her. He put down his bag and looked around. He nodded. âYou have a nice place here.â
âOf course itâs nice. Why donât you take a look at the rent?â Gu Nianzhi was annoyed by her lack of strong will. Her expression turned cold. âOkay, you can leave now. If you donât leave now, Iâm really going to call the police.â
âCall the police? It wonât work. I have diplomatic immunity.â The Ace of the Far East looked at her and smiled mockingly. âThink of something else.â
âI donât need to think of anything else.â Gu Nianzhi pulled on the door and pointed outside. She said coldly, âGet out of here, or Iâll scream. My dad lives across the street.â
The Ace of the Far East was obviously stunned. He touched his nose and smiled sheepishly. âThatâs a good idea. Okay, Iâll go.â
He did have diplomatic immunity, but in front of the girlâs father, he did not have any âimmunityâ.
Gu Nianzhi narrowed her eyes as she watched him walk towards the door.
Just as he was about to reach the elevator, Gu Nianzhi suddenly remembered that he did not have an umbrella. She turned around and took a few quick steps. She picked up the umbrella that the Ace of the Far East had just put up by the door and rushed to the elevator. She said to the Ace of the Far East inside the elevator, âDonât forget the umbrella. Itâs snowing outside.â
The Ace of the Far East looked at her with bright eyes and said, âDonât give me an umbrella. I donât want an umbrella.â
Umbrella symbolized farewell. Giving an umbrella to someone was not good.
