“So was kidnapping Long Yuetian also part of your business deal?”

“Ummm... About this...” Situ Zhong started. There was a conflicted expression on his face as he continued: “Second Master of the Zhai family, I know we shouldn’t have kidnapped her. It was indeed inappropriate and ill-considered. However, we didn’t hurt anyone in the Zhai family. So if it’s possible, could you turn a blind eye to this?”

Upon hearing this, Jian Yiling said in a quiet voice: “Yuetian is our future aunt-in-law.”

Her soft and clear voice said something that almost made Situ Zhong and Zhang Xin collapse on the spot.

“You... What did you say?” Situ Zhong exclaimed with his mouth agape. He suddenly felt rather breathless.

There was a smile on Zhai Yunsheng’s face as he said: “Although my uncle has been single for many years, he’s interested in Long Yuetian. And yet, the only person he’s been interested in got kidnapped recently. Isn’t that akin to indirectly stabbing him in the heart?”

Jian Yiling nodded and said: “Uncle Zhai treats Yuetian very well.”

In the two hours Long Yuetian went missing, the Second Master of the Zhai family dispatched all his subordinates to search for her. Through his actions, it was evident how important Long Yuetian was to him.

Situ Zhong and the others should have never chosen to kidnap Long Yuetian. Kidnapping almost anyone else would make them suffer much less.

“Second Master of the Zhai family... We... I...” Situ Zhong stammered. He regretted all of his decisions.

Out of fear, Zhang Xin hurriedly shifted all the blame to Situ Zhong: “Second Master of the Zhai family, this was his idea. It has nothing to do with me! Second Master of the Zhai family, please let me go!”

Upon hearing this, Situ Zhong became furious. He cursed at Zhang Xin: “Zhang Xin, what do you mean by that? How dare you shift all of the blame to me when you’ve agreed to be involved? And weren’t you the one who was most interested in the piece of vellum?!”

“Don’t speak nonsense! This was your idea! You also came up with the idea of kidnapping Long Yuetian! I told you not to kidnap her! However, you didn’t listen to me!”

Zhang Xin and Situ Zhong argued in front of Zhai Yunsheng and Jian Yiling.

On the other end of the phone call, the Second Master of the Zhai family said: “As long as one of you admits that you are the mastermind of this incident, I will let the other one go.”

As soon as he heard this, Zhang Xin immediately said: “Situ Zhong, hurry up and admit it! Don’t drag me into this mess!”

Eventually, they both lost their minds.

Situ Zhong had the upper end of the fight. Even though he suffered many bruises and cuts, he managed to beat Zhang Xin to the point of passing out.

Situ Zhong assumed Zhang Xin was just unconscious.

However, when he finished resting up, he realized that Zhang Xin was no longer breathing.

When he came to this realization, Situ Zhong’s face became incredibly pale.
