Chapter 384 - Jian Yubo Returns to the Old Jian Residence (2)
From Sidekick to Bigshot
Most of the plants and trees were still in the same place. This included the verdant and lush banyan tree that grew in the courtyard.
After a few moments, a maid invited Jian Yubo to go inside.
When Grandma and Grandpa Jian saw Jian Yubo, both of them had a surprised expression on their face.
âYubo, why didnât you tell us about your return?â Grandpa Jian asked.
Everyone had assumed that Jian Yubo was still concentrated on studying Go abroad. Although he had already won many prizes, every so often, he still isolated himself from the outside world in an attempt to improve his skills.
He would often find a quiet place and stay there for half a month.
It was very similar to the practice of a monk.
âSomething came up and thatâs why I came back early,â Jian Yubo replied.
Upon hearing the cold and indifferent way in which Jian Yubo spoke, Grandma Jianâs heart felt rather frustrated and helpless.
The boy had been a lively child when he was young. But somehow, something had happened in the past few years. He had suddenly become incredibly quiet.
How could a child who had been so boisterous suddenly become like this if something bad hadnât happened to him?
âThereâs something I want to talk to you about,â Jian Yubo said to Grandpa Jian.
Most of the time, when the men in the family wanted to talk alone, it was about business matters.
And thus, Jian Yubo and Grandpa Jian headed to the study.
At first, Grandma Jian didnât take the matter seriously. She assumed that it would just be a normal conversation about business matters.
However, after a while, there was the sound of something being smashed in the study.
Grandma Jian rushed upstairs to see what was happening. She saw broken ceramic pieces on the floor. Grandpa Jian had just broken an ornament in his study.
Then, Grandma Jian took a look at her husbandâs face. His expression looked incredibly ugly.
âWhatâs wrong?â Grandma Jian asked in a worried tone.
âIâll take my leave,â Jian Yubo said. He looked the same as he had when he first entered the Old Jian Residence. There was not a slither of emotion on his face.
Jian Yubo walked slowly out of the study.
He met Jian Yiling in the living room. Jian Yiling had just returned home.
Both of them stopped at the same time and looked at each other.
Jian Yiling had already seen Jian Yuboâs photo from Jian Yumin. Due to this reason, she managed to recognize him.
However, Jian Yiling didnât know much about Jian Yubo. This was because the first half of the original novel had very little to say about him. He wasnât mentioned that often.
In the original novel, up until Jian Yilingâs death, Jian Yubo had not appeared in many scenes. It was as if he was an insignificant supporting character in the original novel.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
The only description of him was from the mouth of the original villain in the novel. Zhai Yunsheng had called him:
[The most dangerous man in the Jian family.]
This was what Zhai Yunsheng had said about Jian Yubo.
However, there was no explanation as to why Zhai Yunsheng said that about him.
Jian Yiling and Jian Yubo looked at each other in silence. They didnât say a single word to the other person.
One of their gazes was clear and bright whilst the other oneâs gaze was deep and dark.
After half a minute, Jian Yubo finally moved. He walked out of the living room and left the Old Jian Residence.
In the study room upstairs, Grandma Jian asked Grandpa Jian: âOld man, whatâs going on? What did you say to Yubo? Why are you so angry?â
Grandpa Jian didnât say anything for a long time. However, he eventually replied: âItâs nothing much. The boy just said something quite impulsive. My temper got the better of me. I couldnât control my temper.â
Grandpa Jian dismissed the matter lightly.
However, Grandma Jian refused to believe in Grandpa Jianâs story. After all, they had been married for so many years. She knew him quite well.
If their grandson had said something impulsive, at most, he would have scolded him. He definitely would not have gone as far as breaking things.
Not only did Grandma Jian refuse to believe this, but Jian Yiling also did not believe his words.
