~CHAPTER 24~

After May left, Lucas, Lizzie and Cole left too because they remembered that they had an exam in their third period, Chase and I were the only ones that didn't have important thing to do in third period. We had AP Psych and well we didn't go. We were watching Tangled, after everybody left we decided it would be a good idea if we waited for them to continue watching the Harry Potter movies. At some point during the movie I went upstairs and got two McFlurries and sat down next to Chase handing him his.

"Thanks." He digs into his McFlurry and I do the same. "Hey when did you change out of your school clothes?"

"When I was taking the McFlurries to the fridge, I thought that since we're going to skip the whole day I might as well do it while being comfortable." I shrug and take another bite of my McFlurry and he nods.

"That was a good idea, why didn't I think about it?"

"Maybe I'm just smarter, well not maybe, I am smarter."

"Hey that's mean, don't call me dumb." He whines with a pouty lip and I laughed a little.

"I didn't call you dumb I just said I'm smarter."

"Debatable." I gasps and shove him as he chuckles. "Hey no shoving." He says and starts to tickle me. I'm laughing uncontrollably as he continues to tickle my sides. We get to the point where he's on top of me tickling me, when I raise my hands in surrender and he stops.

Once I finally got my breathing under control I notice that he's still on top of me. I look into his eyes and see that his eyes are like a greenish kind of blue color with little golden flecks. My eyes subconsciously make their way to his lips, but as soon as they went down they came back up to his eyes to see that they were already looking at my lips.

I feel him lean in or I leaned in, I don't know I just know no one stopped anyone. I should stop him though he's my roommate. But I don't want to stop him. He went to kiss me when we were interrupted by the door opening.  Chase gets off of me so quick it's almost as if he wasn't even on top of me, but he was. I slowly sat back up and look towards the door to see two freshmen whose names I think where Nathan and Alex. They give each other this look as if saying 'let's go'. They leave and I'm left with an uncomfortable silence, the only sound being the movie playing.

"I- I'm going to go." He says and goes to stand up but I grab his wrist and he looks at me.

"You don't have to go." I say so softly it's almost a whisper.

"I'm sorry."

"Why?"

"Because you're happy with Max and... I just got to go." He takes his wrist out of my grasp and leaves the common room. I sigh running a hand through my hair and paused the movie. What just happened? I hear the door open again and see that May, Lucas, Lizzie and Cole were entering.

"Hello gorgeous" Lizzie says. "Maddie?"

"Yeah?" I look up from my lap and at her.

"You okay Madd's?" Lucas asks me and I clear my throat.

"Uhm, yeah, yeah just a weird day."

"So why did Chase leave?" Cole asks

"I don't know." I shake my head and shrug. Oh but I do know. He just didn't want to kiss me. Did I want to kiss him? Yes I did. Do I know why? No I don't. Why didn't he want to kiss me? Ooh I know, because he doesn't like you. God why am I so worked up about this, he's my roommate.

"You okay over there? You seem out of it." May asks me and looks down at her phone with a frown before looking back up at me.

"Yeah, I'm okay, just a little tired." I smile at her and she goes back to her phone. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah why?"

"It's just you look like you're waiting for someone to text you to have a good day." I chuckle and she turns my way to talk to me.

"Hypothetical question, if you started to text this guy and he is like really close with one of your friends would you tell the friend?"

"Well hypothetically, it depends, how close are you with this friend, would it damage your friendship if you broke up with the guy?" I ask and she shakes her head.

"That's the problem I don't know, I consider myself pretty close with her."

"Okay then I think you should tell her. If you guys are pretty close she should know."

"Thanks I'll tell her soon." She says smiling.

"So who's the guy? Anybody cute?" she looks hesitant, but answers me anyways.

"The cutest, he's really sweet and kind. I really like him a lot."

"Aww." I throw myself on her and hug her. "May and strange guy sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g." she pushes me off of her and I laugh.

"Shut up."

"Okay fine, fine." I look around the room and I see that Cole was on his phone like always and Lucas and Liz were arguing over what movie we're going to watch. I tell May that I'm going to go sit with Cole and she nods taking her phone out again. "Hola muchacho."

"Hola muchacha." He smiles putting his phone away. "What's up?"

"Nothing'" I rest my head on his shoulder and he rests his head on my head.

"So why is it that when we were on our way here, we saw Chase heading out in a rush mumbling things to himself?"

"I don't know?" I half state half ask. I look up and he's looking at me with a raised brow.

"Oh you definitely know." He says. "So what happened?"

"I don't want to tell you."

"Oh come on you can trust me." He says and shoves me lightly.

"Camina conmigo Ernesto." I said in a deep voice.

TRANSLATION: Walk with me Ernesto.

"Ernesto? Why Ernesto?" He asks standing up with me.

"Don't know, it just came to me." I say and we walk out of the common room. After walking around for a while he finally speaks.

"Will you tell me what happened now?"

"It was nothing. If it really was something Chase will tell you."

"Seriously you're leaving, Mr. I don't open up, to tell me a secret."

"Hey, he does open up. Did you know he has a tattoo on his shoulder?" I asked him and he nodded. "Now do you know what it stands for?"

"No." He says and I frown.

"What? You don't know?"

"No because he doesn't open up. Did he tell you?" I nodded. "Man that dude is so..." he said something after that but I didn't quite catch it.

"He's so what?"

"No nothing. So will you tell me why he left?"

"Nope." I say popping the 'p'.

"Fine, but someday the truth will be eating at you alive and you will want to tell me and I will know the truth." He says and I laugh.

"I think I can handle the truth eating me alive quite well, thank you very much." I give him a toothy grin.

"You are quite a puzzle Maddison McKenna. What is going on inside that huge head of yours?"

"Hey, it's not huge it's proportional."

"Okay." We stop at the first floor stair case, I didn't even know that we went down the stairs until now, and we sit down. We were sitting in comfortable silence until Cole starts to speak again. "Do you like Max a lot?"

"I haven't had a chance to get to know him better so I don't know if I like him a lot, but I know I like him."

"Go on another date then." He answers, I should do that it'll make me forget about what didn't happen with Chase or what was about to happen.

"He didn't kiss me." I say out of the blue looking at Cole and he furrowed his eyebrows. "I'm talking about Chase, that's why he left. He leaned in to kiss me, but then didn't because two freshmen entered the common room and interrupted us." I explain looking at him. He doesn't look shocked but he doesn't look normal either. "Please say something." I whine.

"I- I have nothing to say."

"You wanted to know, at least give me something."

"Lucas owes me ten bucks?" he half states half questions while I'm sitting here with my mouth hanging wide open.

"You bet on me?"

"I said something between you two would happen before Halloween. And Lucas said after Thanksgiving so I won."

"But nothing happened so you actually haven't won."

"Haven't won? Does that mean I have a shot at winning?" I groan and burry my head in my hands.

"I don't know. Can I go sleep this off, my sleep deprivation is going to kill me."

"Yeah." He says and we stand up. "Why are you sleep deprived anyways?"

"Nightmares, one every night. They're like a little party in my brain." I say yawning.

"Well don't fall asleep on your way to your room and have a great nap, I'm gonna go see if I'm winning my other bet." He says

"Oh May told me your betting on Lucas and Liz. I'm betting twenty that they get together before Halloween or on Halloween. People get drunk on Halloween, you don't know what may happen." I start walking up the stairs but stop and turn around. "Oh and Cole?" he turns to me. "Thank you for listening. You will do the talking next time and I'll do the listening."

"Will do."

"Bye..." I drawl out the word as I go up the stairs. I finally make it to the room, I change into an oversized t-shirt that fell to my naked thighs. I land face first on my bed before going straight to sleep.

I'm cold, my ass is freezing, where's my tortilla blanket? My shirt up to my boobs, I have a wedgie, I only have one sock on and my freezing toes on my other foot are jealous. Those where my first thought's when my sleeping state was starting to leave me. Other thoughts where, am I in my bed? Am I dead in a ditch somewhere? The world may never know.

I just wanna sleep, but I'll wake up to see if I'm dead in a ditch or not.  I open my eyes and see that I'm in fact in my bed just in a really awkward position. I sit up and fix my shirt that was stuck under my bra. I fix my hair that was messed up, and put on my other sock. That was good nap, no nightmares, and I was cozy for most of the time. I should appreciate that, I might even go back to sleep. I grab my tortilla blanket that was on the floor and get cozy. I was just about to fall asleep again when I hear key's jingling on the other side of the door. Soon the door opens and I see Chase walking through in only sweatpants. Did he come and change when I was sleeping?

"Hey." I say in a sleepy voice. He freezes in his place, his back turned to me since he had turn around to close the door.

"Hey." He says and drops his keys on his desk. "I just came to look for some clothes and my shower things I'll let you go back to sleep."

"No it's okay I bet I have some homework anyways."

"Princes you should really sleep. You didn't sleep much the other night."

"I'm fine Chase. I slept like a log earlier and I didn't have any nightmare so it's better than nothing, and I can guaranty you that if I go back to sleep I will get one. So really it's okay."

"Sei una donna così testarda." He says and I roll my eyes.

"I no speak foreign language." I say and he chuckles.

"I was just saying that you should've gone back to sleep and that I would wake you up when it was time for dinner."

"No you didn't." I shake my head smiling and he chuckles.

"You'll never know." He shrugs. I stand up and stretch my arms, in doing so Chase's eyes move to my legs, I look down and realize that I had no pants on. I laugh awkwardly and go to the closet. Once I put on some leggings I turn back to him to see that his cheeks were a little red. "I'm gonna go take my shower."

"Yeah wait up I need to take one too." I grab my thing and we walk together to the showers. "Are we going to talk about what happened? Or what was about to happen?"

"It was nothing. Right?"

"Uhm... right, yeah, yeah. You're totally right."  He goes into the bathroom and holds the door for me. I took my shower and then went to dinner. I spent the night at Lizzie's room because she had invited May and I for a sleep over. "Good Night." I say and they said goodnight too.

Hello my beautiful humans. Here is Chapter 24 I really enjoyed writing this chapter, I had been waiting to write this chapter for some time now, and well here it is. So they almost kissed, yeah I know don't hate me but they can't kiss just yet. Who else loves our Maddie and Cole convos? I love it because Cole is like another brother figure to her.
