~CHAPTER 46~

*•*•*•Take care of her while I'm gone•*•*•*

It was currently eight a.m. the next day and I had just gotten to Oakley's house. I didn't make any stops other than gas, so when I got out of the car and got my bags she already had the door open for me. She walks out and comes to hug me. When I fall into her warm embrace I instantly cry what was left of me. It must sound ridiculous because I was nothing to her, but she was something to me. It may have only been four months, but they say that it only takes a second to fall in love. She stole that second along with my heart. But that's what falling in love requires, getting your heart stolen by another.

"I'm sorry." She says rubbing my back in a comforting manner.

"How'd you know?" I sniffle.

"You didn't sound like Chase over the phone." She pulls away holding my face in her hands.

"Thanks for letting me stay."

"You can stay as long as you want." She says, wiping away some tears that fell out of my eyes.

"Where are my niece and nephew?"

"They went out with Jerry, I told him to take them out, because I wanted to talk with you." I nod and she rubs my arm. I look around some tears falling down my face and speak.

"She hates me." She shakes her head grabbing my bag.

"Let's go inside and talk."

We walk inside and I take off my shoes at the entrance sitting down on the couch and Oak drops my bag next to the sofa, sitting down next to me.

"What happened Chase?"

"After you called last night she told me she liked me and I said it back, but then this morning I was woken up by her best friend telling me that Maddie was freaking out and I went over to her best friend's room seeing Maddie all shaken up. When I asked her what was wrong and she just pushed me away. Then this morning when I was walking out of the dining hall she was there and I told her how I really felt. I told her I loved her and she said, she said that she didn't like me like that. And that it was all a mistake, that the kiss, us being friends, and us even meeting was all a mistake. That's when I called you to ask if I could come here." I say sniffling and wiping away some tears

"Oh Chase. Come here." She opens her arms for me to hug her and I scooch over so that she can hug me.

"Why would she do that?"

"I don't know sweetie I don't know." I hear the door open and the voices of my niece and nephew and I stand up my back facing them, wipping away some tears before I turn towards them.

"Uncle Chase!!" I hear Jessie scream and start running to me.

"Hey bugaboo. " I open my arms and she jumps into my arms. I smile hugging her and she pulls away.

"We really missed you, I'm sorry we couldn't be there for Thanks giving, but daddy was sick and so was Casey and I. We're better now." She explains all so fast and smiling hard. God I love my nieces and nephews.

"Well that's amazing. Now we can play while I'm here." Her eyes light up and she smiles nodding her head very fast. She starts telling me about school and all of the friends she's made when I feel a tug on my pants. I look down and see Casey smiling also.

"Uncle Chase." I put his sister down crouching down so I'm at his eye level.

"What's up little man?" I smile but his smile falls and a frown takes place where the smile once was.

"Were you crying?"

"I..." I look at Oakley and she's about to interfere when I speak again. "I was bug."

"Why, did you fall down? I fell down the other day and I hurt my knee and I cried." Jessie said and I shook my head.

"My heart broke, but I bet that you two can fix my little broken heart." I said and booped each of their noses.

"Who broke it? " Jessie asks and I smile down at the floor. "I have glitter tape I can fix it." She says enthusiastically and I nod my head smiling.

"A friend broke it, and I bet that glitter tape is magic."

"Well tell your friend that it's not nice."

"I'll let you do that."

"Want to play that always cheers me up?" She smiles making me laugh.

"Sure bugaboo. " She grabs my hand and I drags me up the stairs. My phone rings and I take it out of my pocket to see who it is and see Charlotte's name. I answer and say hello.

"Why are you at Oak's house?"

"Hello Charlotte. Oh hey Chase. Did you see the weather today? Yeah it sure is something else."

"Why are you there?" I tell Jessie to go up I'll be there in a second.

"I can feel your worry over here chill I just needed to leave for a while."

"Chase..."

"I'm okay. Besides who told you that I'm at Oak's?" I said going down the stair and out the door.

"Oak. At least she thought it would be a good idea to tell your twin that you are not in the same vicinity as your teachers and headmaster." She says being sarcastic.

"Don't tell mom. I promise that I will keep up with my work but" I have to get away okay?"

"Will you tell me why?"

"Not today."

"Did you tell Oak?"

"Yes." I nod even if she can't see me and she sighs. "It was easier to explain to her than you."

"I'm not going to question it. But I will call every single day of the week to see how you are."

"Okay." I nodded

"Good."

"Now if you will excuse me I have a niece that is going to fix my broken heart with glittery tape." I say ready to go back inside.

"Bye."

"Bye. " We hang up and I walk inside going up the stairs but not before I receive another call. I see it's Cole and I sigh before answering.

"Hello?"

"Hey."

"What's up?"

"You want to talk about what happened? Because Maddie sure as hell doesn't want to."

"I'll tell you all of it when I go back."

"Chase."

"No. If you want to know so bad get it out of her. I'm tired. I'm tired of feeling like this. It's only been one day and I miss her. I love her and she doesn't even want to know me. She broke my heart when she said those word. And I'm just tired. I'm going to go play for a while with my niece and then I'm going to go to sleep. I don't want to talk about it. I just. I'm going to go back in a couple of days. So until then please don't call me. Do me that favor." I wipe away some tears and turn around to keep walking to my niece's room.

"Uncle Chase? " Casey says and I turn around to talk with him, crouching down to look him in the eyes.

"Yeah buddy?"

"Are you sad?"

"Just a little. " He extends his hand and wipes away my tear and I smile.

"Life can be happy. You just have to find someone that makes you happy."

"I will. " She made me happy. But I clearly didn't do the same for her. We weren't even in a relationship and look at me. Being all torn up by a girl.

"Good. Now come on lets go play. Jessie is waiting."

"Go ahead kid I just have a call I need to make."

"Okay." He goes skipping into Jessie's room and closes the door.

I go on my phone, into my contacts and search for the person's number and I press the number and it rings three times before the person answers.

"Hey."

"Hey May."

"What do you need?"

"Take care of her while I'm gone." I pause. "Please?"

"I will." She continues. "I'm not you though. She won't want to unless you tell her."

"She wouldn't want to hear it from me."

"I'll make sure to take care of her."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome."
