Chapter 1001
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Regardless of what happened to Jardin Corporation, Madelyn would not interfere. Zach would be fine with Cecilia there. As for Madelynâs career, Zach had little say. He would only tell her to rest more since she was unwell.
This was the latest she had ever stayed up. By the time she finished, it was already daybreak. The conference call was still on. Besides Madelyn, Clement, and Dorian, the others did not participate in this overtime schedule.
Clement advised her, âStop working, Madelyn. You should rest soon. Leave the rest of us.â
Madelyn assured him, âItâs fine. Thereâs just a little more.â
After they finished, they took a break together. Dorian told them, âIâm ordering breakfast. You live too far, Madelyn. Iâll order some for you next time.â
Madelyn replied, âThanks.â
Just as Dorian finished ordering, someone came to the conference call and said, âClement, somethingâs wrong. Dawn and Crystal got admitted to the hospital for alcohol poisoning.â
Clement asked, âWhat? What happened?â
Madelyn lifted her head when she heard this. The person answered, âIâm not sure. Iâve just received a call from the hospital.â
Then, Madelyn said in the conference call, âIâll go check on them first. Both of you can finish the rest.â
Clement added seriously, âIâll go with you.â
Clement was worried she could not handle it. Her health was poor, and they had just worked throughout the night without any rest. He might be able to assist if anything happened at the hospital.
Besides, Clement was the person in charge of the studio. Should anything happen to his subordinates, he could not leave them be.
Madelyn agreed, âOkay.â
The moment Madelyn stood up, her vision turned dark. Had she not held onto the table, she would have fainted. After recovering from her dizziness, she went to her bedroom to change her clothes. With a jacket in hand, she prepared to go downstairs.
The servants had already prepared breakfast for her. They asked her in shock, âMrs. Jardin, why are you up so early today? Do you need to go out? Why donât you have breakfast first.â
Madelyn told them, âThere is no need. I have some urgent business, so I must go out soon.â
When Madelyn reached the door, Zachâs cold voice rang from behind, âStand right there! Youâre not allowed to go outside.â
Madelyn ignored him. After putting on her jacket, she took the scarf from the rack and walked out.
Jordan had already parked the car outside. When she was about to get in the car, Zach grabbed her arm and dragged her back into the house.
âAre you ignoring me?â Zach asked. His expression was ugly, and his eyes were red from burning the midnight oil. His reddened eyes came from working on the thirty billion dollar project.
âYouâre hurting me. Let go,â Madelyn demanded.
Zach let go of her and said, âYou should rest after you finish your work. As for the studioâ¦â
Madelyn interrupted him, âThatâs enough! I donât need your fake affection. Mind your own business.â
The servants saw this and left quickly. They thought, âWhy are they fighting again?â
Before Madelyn could walk another few steps, Zach pulled her back, âI wonât repeat myself again.
Youâre not allowed to go out! Now, sit down and eat your breakfast!â
Madelyn calmly fought back, âDid you cause both of them to have alcohol poisoning?â
Zach kept quiet. He did not plan to speak, and Madelyn could already figure it out. âDo you do anything else besides bullying? You only got to this position because of Cecilia, yet what have you done with this power? I know you donât like badmouthing, but thatâs my issue. I didnât care about it, so why did you interfere? What makes you think you can do that? You forced them to drink alcohol and punished them.
Now, theyâre in the hospital with alcohol poisoning. Are you happy now?â
Madelyn continued, âI know, youâre always the kind man while Iâm the ignorant one. Had they gossiped about Cecilia, they wouldnât have ended up with just alcohol poisoning. Iâm not that fragile. Iâm not so easily offended by a few words from other people. They are my studioâs employees, juniors, and Prof.
Monetâs students. Do you think I can look them in the eye when I see them next time? What will Prof.
Monet think of me? I know weâre not the same, Zach, but why canât you think from my perspective for once?â
Although everyone in Ventropolis feared him, Madelyn did not. She stared deep into his eyes. Zach was shaken and replied, âVery well. I was brash this time. I will compensate them after this and try not to make it difficult for you.â
Madelyn did not expect him to give in. She did not say anything more but assumed Zach agreed to this because of her health.
