Chapter 1008
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
âSince he wants me to be an obedient Mrs. Jardin, Iâll just play the role,â Madelyn thought to herself.
When Zach left the room, Madelynâs phone vibrated with a message from Kennedy about work. She took her phone to the dressing room.
Zach had replaced her old phone with a custom model he made for her, discarding the old one as outdated. Madelyn suspected he had installed monitoring software on this new phone to track her movements and intercept messages.
She would not have known about Zachâs intrusive tactics if Kennedy had not mentioned them, reminiscent of his behavior from five years ago.
Madelyn retrieved her secret phone, filled with information Kennedy sent her.
Kennedyâs message read, [I found what you were looking for. Andrew never left the country, but the Stewart family seems to have hidden his whereabouts. The servants said he stayed home after treatment and never left again. His medical records indicate organ failure, an incurable disease. I fear he may be dead.]
âHeâs dead? Then whatâs the link between Lana and Kai? Why did she forget Andrew? They were together for years. How could she forget the love of her life? There must be something else,â Madelyn thought.
Kennedy promptly responded with more information, [Kai harassed Lana once. They had an inappropriate relationship, but the details are unclear. But Madelyn, why this sudden interest in them?]
Madelyn replied, [Just curious. Thanks for your help.]
Madelyn wondered, âHow did Kai make Lana forget everything?â
Madelyn heard footsteps. She quickly hid the phone and opened the door to find Zach holding a bowl of pea soup. His face looked troubled. He asked, âWhat are you doing?â
Madelyn casually accepted the soup, saying, âJust felt chilly and wanted to add another layer. You go on, I have things to do.â
âNo rush. Iâll wait till youâre done,â Zach insisted, sitting down and casually picking up her phone. He installed a new app and added, âThis will update you on new products. Order them directly and Iâll have it delivered.â
âWith no chance to go out, delivery seems pointless. The house is cluttered and Iâve had servants clear out some clothes,â Madelyn responded.
Zach, noting her subdued behavior, stroked her now longer hair and said, âOnly the best for you, Mrs.
Jardin.â
âJoin me at a company banquet tonight. Many former Azure Corporation employees who know you will be there,â he added.
Madelyn, finding the soup tasteless, protested, âThereâll be too many people. I donât want to go.â
Zach insisted, âYou have to adapt to such social situations.â
After finishing the soup, Madelyn stood up, patting his cheek playfully, âItâll depend on my mood. Now, off you go.â
Zach, amused by her growing boldness, smiled as he left.
