lake refused to be disrespected. She blocked Kevin and permanently deleted his contact, thinking.
âDonât you dare ask to be added back.â
She then informed Cecilia, âMs. Stamford, I couldnât reach Mr. Harrison. Heâs blocked me!â
Cecilia snapped, âWhat use are you then?â
Blake kept her distance and quickly apologized, âIâm sorry, Ms. Stamford. It wonât happen again.
At that moment, Ceciliaâs gaze met Madelynâs from the thirdâfloor window: Her thoughts darkened with jealousy. âMadelyn, you think youâre better than me?â
Despite her anger, Cecilia maintained her composure and called Madelyn.
Madelyn answered, waiting silently. Cecilia could not hold back, âDonât get too comfortable, Madelyn.
Without Zach, youâre nothing.â
Madelyn, recalling how she once felt helpless, knew she was stronger now, even without Zach.
She replied to Cecilia with a calm demeanor, âMs. Stamford, Zach is only interested in the financial benefits you bring. He needs me right now. Perhaps you should keep your distance.â
Madelyn turned away after hanging up, unaware of Ceciliaâs burning hatred.
Cecilia, still arrogant, failed to realize her status depended entirely on Zach. Without him, she could never have reached her current state. She aspired to be Zachâs equal, but she did not realize how formidable the real Zach was.
When Zach arrived at his office, he received a call from Margaret, âMr. Jardin, there was a woman at the door acting quite aggressively and looking for Ms. Jent earlier. Luckily we didnât let her in.â
Zach asked, âHow is Madelyn?â
Margaret replied softly, âMs. Jent seems unbothered. Sheâs painting now.â

Blake, waiting outside, shivered. She was glad to be leaving this dysfunctional company and cheered Inwardly of seeing Kevin being yelled at.
Zach gestured for Kevin to leave the office.
âServe him right!â Blake muttered under her breath, relishing in Kevinâs misfortune.

âHmph. Iâm leaving soon, Iâm not scared of you,â Blake muttered to herself.
Then, Blake received an unexpected call from her mother. She asked while walking to the balcony, âMom, are you back?â
Her mother suggested a blind date, which frustrated Blake. She protested, âYouâve been gone so long, and now you!
youâre trying to set me up on dates? Iâm fine living with Aunt Grace.â
Blake resigned and agreed to one last blind date. She wished her parents would return from the research institute for her birthday, as she had felt neglected since childhood.
After Blake ended the call, she felt wronged. She thought, They always send money, but I need more than that. I need them. Iâve been independent since I was left with Aunt Grace. As if Iâm not their daughter at all. Iâm tired of this family and also this job.â
As Blake turned around, she was startled to see someone behind her. Annoyed, she stormed off, passing by Kevin.
