Chapter 1047
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Blake lay on the couch with an adoring gaze, tilting her head as she watched the person who looked handsome even when reading documents.
The staff in the Administrative Department were jealous that she got to work as Kevinâs assistant. They thought being able to see his good looks every day could make their food taste better.
After Kevin finished his work, Blake switched off the last main switch, and they stepped into the elevator to go down. Coincidentally, a group of coworkers who had just finished work emerged from the adjacent elevator on the ground floor, excitedly discussing plans to grab some late-night snacks.
One bold female colleague among them called to Kevin, âMr. Harrison, did you guys also just finish work?
How about grabbing a bite with us? With the company landing such a big project, it wouldnât be right if Mr.
Harrison didnât treat us!â
âYes! We rarely work this late. Mr. Harrison, please join us for late-night snacks!â The colleagues behind them all chimed in.
âIf you guys arenât tired, weâll continue working overtime tomorrow,â said Kevin. He knew how to disrupt the mood well. With just a few words, he silenced everyone instantly.
The person who had just started the ruckus grabbed Blake and whispered to her, âBlake, itâs rare for us to have a chance to interact with Mr. Harrison. Youâve got to make the most of it for us, or else we shared all this gossip with you for nothing. Weâve got some fresh gossip and can secretly tell you during meals.â
Blake gave her colleague a thumbs-up and said, âIâve got this.â
Then, Blake approached Kevin and asked, âMr. Harrison, Iâm hungry. How about grabbing some late-
night snacks?â
Kevin asked, âSince when did you start joining them in making a fuss? Arenât you tired?â
Blake grinned, âI just got a good nap! Come with us! I bet them five hundred dollars youâd come. If you do, Iâll split the winnings. Two hundred dollars for you.â
âNot interested,â said Kevin.
Blake continued, âHey! You canât be that greedy! Iâll give you three hundred dollars, okay?â
When Kevin took out his car keys from his pocket, Blake quickly grabbed his hand and looked into his eyes. She said, âStarting tomorrow, Iâll be your driver after work for a month.â
Kevinâs icy face showed a subtle shift in emotion as he smiled. He tossed the car keys to Blake and said.
âShe involved just for that five hundred dollars? Didnât she feel she was the one who lost out?â Kevin thought.
Blake was driving Kevinâs car with three passengers in the back. The silence inside was eerie as if it was empty. Another car was tailing them. They eventually reached a night market and stopped at a grill stall.
Kevinâs presence made the atmosphere a bit uneasy. Blake secretly received the payment and chuckled to herself.
While Blake was enjoying her meal, she did not forget to pour a glass of water for Kevin. During this period, her main task was to keep Kevinâs preferences in mind. Coffee during the day and water at night.
âMr. Harrison, I donât know if youâre into this late-night snack stall. We can go to a different restaurant next time if you donât like it. I know a French restaurant thatâs particularly delicious.â
âYes! How about we go tomorrow?â
They worried Kevin might decline, so they discreetly nudged Blake. She agreed with her mouth full of food, âIâm fine as long as Iâm not paying.â.
A colleague teased, âBlake, youâre pretty tight-fisted. With a salary like yours, you could treat us to dinner.
Why not use this chance to do so? Weâll pay next time.â
