Chapter 1068
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
âCareful.â When Liam saw Blake was about to fall, he reached out from his pocket and caught her around the waist. The passerby who accidentally bumped into her quickly apologized.
After steadying Blake, Liam noticed the flashing green light. Subconsciously, he grabbed her hand.
Blake was momentarily stunned. She looked at the hand holding hers and quickly withdrew it as they reached the other side of the street. 1 âThank you! I didnât expect to be so engrossed in talking to you again that I forgot to watch the road. Iâll be more careful next time.â
Liam put his hand back in his pocket and said calmly, âItâs okay. Your hands are a bit cold.â
Blake exclaimed, âAh, thatâs just me. Iâm always cold, especially when winter hits. My hands and feet are freezing, but itâs okay. Iâve gotten used to it.â
Liam remained silent. After walking for a while, Blake suddenly remembered, âIsnât your place supposed to be the other way around from where weâre walking?â
Liamâs eyes flashed, and he replied, âIâve already moved to a new place.â
Blake asked, âWhere did you move to?â
âYouâll know soon,â said Liam.
In a black sedan, Audrey reminded Kevin when she noticed he was distracted, âMr. Harrison, the auction is about to start.â Only then did Kevin shift his gaze back, step on the gas, and drive away.
In the periphery of Blakeâs line of sight, she always felt a gaze fixed on her. When she looked over, she caught Audreyâs calm and indifferent gaze flick away from her. The car then drove past her. Seeing the familiar license plate number, Blake felt nothing else besides a slight discomfort deep down.
âNo wonder Kevin isnât into me. It turns out heâs got someone else in his heart-the mayorâs daughter.
Sheâs graceful, poised, and beautiful, with a gentle and elegant way of speaking. Any man would fall for such a person. Iâve been deluding myself all this time.
âForget it, Iâve already given up. Now, Iâm just playing along for Madelynâs sake. Otherwise, I wouldnât bother sticking around and wasting time with him at the compány.â
She turned to Liam and said, âLiam, about the blind date⦠If our parents ask, could you say things are progressing smoothly? Just consider it as friends helping each other out. Itâs okay if you disagree with it. I just donât want my parents to nag me. Otherwise, they might try setting me up with someone else if they get too eager,â
When Blake looked back, Liam had his head drooped, looking lazy. When he lifted his head, his eyes seemed misty. âOkay.â
Blake asked worriedly, âWhatâs wrong with you? Are you having a headache again?â
Liam squinted and nodded, âSort of.â
Blake hurriedly approached to support him. âWeâre almost at my apartment complex. Iâll call a cab for you. Hurry back home and rest. The pharmacies are closed now. Do you still have medicine at home?â
Under a streetlight, the white light illuminated them as he suddenly hugged her. Liamâs soft and short hair hung over his forehead, and Blakeâs eyes widened instantly, taking a moment to register what was happening.
âJust hold on to me for a while,â said Liam.
In that fleeting moment, a gust of cold wind tousled Blakeâs long hair and stirred something within her heart.
Ten minutes later, they arrived on the same floor. Blake asked, âLiam, when did you move across from me? Why didnât you tell me?â
âSurprise.â
Blake said, âItâs indeed surprising, but letâs go back now. You should take your medicine.â
