Chapter 1086
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Blake quickly came back to her senses. She nervously avoided his gaze as she supported her waist to stand up, âN-No! Iâm too tired today. Otherwise, I wouldnât have come here to slack off. Iâve brought lunch today, so I wonât eat with you. Maybe next time.â After that, she quickly ran away as if someone was chasing her.
She rejected him because she was afraid that the people in the company were gossiping about them.
Blake thought, âThe incident with Kevin in the corridor last time was widely known. Luckily, it was suppressed. Otherwise, I couldâve been questioned by Mr. Jardin.â
She was so hungry that her stomach growled. She wanted to get something to eat.
Unexpectedly, when she passed by the restroom, she overheard people talking inside.
A woman said, âHave you seen the photo? Someone took a picture of Blake sleeping in Mr. Xanderâs office. Who exactly is she? She is manipulating both Mr. Xander and Mr. Harrison. Last time, Mr.
Harrison even made Susan remind us to watch our mouths. Otherwise, how could this office romance end so easily? Her relationship with Mr. Harrison is ambiguous, yet sheâs involved with another man now.â
âThatâs right.â Another woman said. As she spoke, she looked at herself in the mirror. She tossed her hair and said, âIâm not any worse than Blake! Why are these two outstanding men interested in her?!â
âI wonder what kind of spell Blake cast on them.â
Furious, Blake rolled up her sleeves, ready to confront them and demand an explanation. As she walked over, she suddenly stopped.
She thought, âIâll just let it go. Wherever I am, everyone dislikes me. Now, the entire secretarial department avoids me.
âEven Janice appears fearful when she talks to me.â
Blake pressed the button to go down. When the elevator stopped at her floor and opened, she lifted her head and found the person she hated standing inside.
Blake paused for a moment.
Susan said, âHurry up and come in. Donât waste my time.â
Blake rolled her eyes and disdainfully scoffed, âTsk.â She put her hands in her pockets, stepped back, and took the adjacent elevator to go down.
With nothing to do at the company, she ate alone at the company cafeteria. With a tray in his hands, Liam sat down across from her, âYou have no appetite? Is the food not good?â
Blake absentmindedly poked at the food with her fork. She had just ordered mushroom soup for takeout.
on her phone, planning to have it delivered to Cecilia, who was hospitalized. After some thought, she decided to just visit Cecilia. She thought she might be able to gather some useful information from her.
She stared at Liam. She had even forgotten about lying to him regarding bringing her own lunch.
She slowly chewed, âI think Iâll go to the hospital to check on Ms. Samford. She was hospitalized yesterday, and thereâs no one to take care of her. As her assistant, I canât just abandon her. I just ordered some soup for her on my phone, and Iâll bring it over to her later.â
Liam asked, âDo you need me to accompany you to the hospital?â
Blake chuckled, âIâm her assistant. Itâs my job to do these things. Just now, I noticed there are still many drafts in your inbox waiting for review, right? You should focus on your work; donât worry about me.â
Liam responded, âDo you want to leave work together tonight?â
âIt depends. I might go straight home after coming back from the hospital.â
âOkay.â
After a while, Blake finally remembered. She quickly said, âIâm sorry! I lied about bringing lunch. I just donât want people to gossip about us. Although weâre friends, there are always people in the company who canât control their mouths and talk nonsense!â
Liam placed his chicken drumstick in her bowl, âItâs fine, I donât mind.â
