Chapter 1217
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
Blake hesitated, then added, âIâm sorry! I completely forgot about our pretend relationship.â
Liam abruptly stood and approached her desk, âBlake, Cecilia shared some things at the hospital; I may need to return to my family soon. Regarding our arrangement, I might still need your assistance. If itâs too much, we can stop.â
Blake tensed, pondering. After a brief pause, she inquired, âHow much longer do you need me?â
Liamâs silence lingered.
Blake continued, âLiam, remember. I have Kevin. I donât want any misunderstandings when heâs back. But Iâll help if you need me.
Youâve been there for me before.â
Liam nodded and smiled gently, âAlright. Since weâre friends, wh Cecilia tell you? Youâve been unusually quiet. If somethingâs trou you, Iâm here.â
Blake hesitated, her thoughts drifting to the video Cecilia showed he depicting Kevin with a chilling, ruthless expression. His command had triggered a brutal action, reflecting a disturbing lack of concern for human life.
âIâm okay,â she reassured, though her voice lacked conviction.
Their conversation was interrupted by a knock on the door. Susan entered, face taut with displeasure while holding a beautifully wrapped gift box, âMs. Samford sent this dessert from The Deli. She thought you might not have eaten enough at lunch.â Having delivered the message, Susan promptly left.
Liam commented, âCecilia seems to be reaching out to you. Whatâs your take on her?â
Disinterested in the box, Blake replied flatly, âI have nothing to do with her. Mya is the only sister I acknowledge.â
She then opened the package to find a variety of exquisite pastries. She did not eat any; instead, she rewrapped them and took them out to share with her colleagues. Blake announced, âThese pastries are from The Deli. Enjoy.â
âThank you! Youâre so kind. Itâs not easy to get takeouts from The Deli. Theyâre always in high demand.â
âExactly! Last time I tried to order, they were all sold out.â
Blake added, âI wasnât around much recently, and you all have been working hard. I appreciate all your help. Thank Ms. Samford for sheâs the one who sent these.â
Upon returning, Blake noticed Liamâs observant gaze. âWhy look at like that? Is there something on my face?â she inquired, touching h cheek.
mi Liam observed thoughtfully, âBlake, you seem different from before.â
Puzzled, she asked, âDifferent how? Iâm still the same Blake.â
Liam noted, âYou donât smile as much, and youâre intensely focused on your work.â
Blake offered a small smile, âMr. Xander, people evolve. Iâm more #
driven now.â
Liamâs smirk was tinged with approval, âGood. Whatever your goals are, you have my support.â
Blake nodded. With a newfound determination, she said, âAlright, Mr.
Xander. The dayâs not over yet. Shall we continue to work diligently?â.
âAbsolutely,â Liam agreed.
