Chapter 1227
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
A thought lingered in Blakeâs mind as she pondered deeply, âAs long as Iâm married to Liam, Cecilia has promised not to harm anyone.â
Liam, noticing something amiss in her demeanor, asked, âWhatâs wrong? Is there something on my face?â
Blake maintained a few steps behind Liam as they walked, creating a physical and emotional distance.
She replied, âIâm just a bit dizzy.
Letâs head back.â
Liam offered to drive her home, but she declined, âNo, thank you. My place is in the opposite direction of the companyâs. You have work, and I donât want to cause any delays.â
Despite her words, Blake felt an increasing emotional distance from him, which seemed to grow with each passing moment.
Sensing her unease and looking slightly disappointed, Liam pre her for answers, âBlake, what is going on? Is Cecilia using Kev threaten you again? Please, tell me whatâs going on. Iâm here to h Blake was torn. Liamâs kindness overwhelmed her. It was more the what she expected from a friend. It felt deeper, more personal.
âCan we talk in your car?â Blake suggested, desiring a more private setting.
âOf course, letâs go. Iâll take your luggage,â Liam replied, always ready to assist.
Once in the car, he prompted, âWhat did you want to talk about?â
, asked, Liam, weâre friends, right?
You wonât turn into someone like Cecilia, would you?â
Liam looked surprised at first, then offered a gentle smile. He said, Blake, Iâll never harm you. I made a promise to myself. Do you really think I could become like that?â
However, Blakeâs trust was wavering. Cecilia had hinted that Liam would become a political threat to Kevin. She almost revealed this to Liam but then remembered Kevinâs warning.
âDonât trust anyoneâs words once youâre back in Ventropolis,â Kevin had warned her.
âWhat about Liam? He seems to be the only one who can help me at the company,â Blake had argued.
Kevinâs warning was clear, âHuman minds are a lot more terrifying than monstersâ. Trust Liam if you feel heâs trustworthy, but never fully.
Blake asked, âCan I trust you?â
Kevin teased, âHavenât I deceived you enough?â
Lying in his arms, Blake playfully complained, âYou tell me not to trust anyone. What if I trust him?â
Kevin advised, âThen grow stronger in the next three years and change yourself if you truly want to help me.â
Blake felt confused, unsure of what Kevin wanted from her. She expressed her frustration, âWhy canât you just tell me directly? All this indirect talk is making my head spin.â
Kevin cryptically replied, âOne day, youâll understand. But remember, donât trust anyoneâ¦â
âIndeed, everyone changes. Kevin, Liam, even myselfâ¦â
As she returned home to an empty house as Grace and Simon were at the hospital, Blake entered her room and stood before the mirror. She gazed at the marks on her chest, a vivid reminder of the surreal and tumultuous events of Northern Myanmar.
