Chapter 1261
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
However, Kai often would not respond to Blakeâs messages unless it was something urgent.
Almost half a month had passed since Zachâs surgery.
At Vanguard Hospital, in the garden downstairs, the nanny carried the baby boy while Kai held the baby girl. The weather today was nice and sunny, so Lana sat in a wheelchair basking in the warm sunlight.
She asked, âArenât you going to reply to her?â
Kaiâs phone vibrated more frequently in recent days. He was afraid of missing messages from the research lab, so he did not put his phone on silent. However, the messages he received in recent days were not from the research institute.
Irritated, he took out his phone from his pocket and decided to block Blake.
He responded, âSheâs annoying, so Iâm just going to ignore her.â
At Jardin Corporation, Blake was sitting in the office and sent Kai a message: [Dr. Stewart, Iâm still young, and I really donât want to be forced into marriage so soon. Help me!]
After sending it, Blake realized the message was not delivered to Kai.
Lana hoped Kai would not get busy with other things. She wanted him to be by her side, to accompany her.
Last time, after Kai completed the surgery and came back, he was so exhausted that he slept for the entire day. Lana was terrified.
Although she was still in recovery from her operation, she waited by his side for him to wake up.
At this moment, a nurse suddenly rushed over. âIâm so sorry, Dr.
Stewart! Someone wanted to see you, and I couldnât stop her in time!â
When Kai saw the person who had come, he was not surprised.
Cecilia was teasing the child in the nannyâs arms. âThis child really looks like his father, Dr. Stewart, donât you think?â
Kai met Ceciliaâs malicious gaze and had the nurse take Lana away.
He responded, âBeen a while, Cecilia. Youâve changed quite a bit.â
Cecilia approached him with a smile. âPeople change. Why were you in such a hurry to have someone take your sister-in-law away? Were you afraid I might say something?
âDonât worry, I know where to draw the line. I donât like meddling in other peopleâs affairs, but youâd better not interfere in my matters either.â
Kai stared at the scenery nearby, his hands in his pockets. He did not take her words to heart. âI didnât expect you to start collaborating with Liam so soon.â
Vanguard Hospital was not open to just anyone, so Kai knew someone must have granted Cecilia special access to enter the hospital.
He continued saying, âYou really never change, do you? Youâre still just using your sister to achieve your goals.â
Cecilia chuckled. âYouâre quite smart, as expected from a top medical graduate in Venturia. Even Julian doesnât dare to take action against you, saying you have a powerful mentor.
âBut I donât like what you just said. What I have with Liam is merely a deal. Besides, Blake just doesnât know Liam that well; she doesnât know how good Liam is. Kevinâs just a bastard and a nobody.â
Kai replied, âWhat about you? Sure, youâve managed to get to where you are because of your capabilities, but donât forget where you came from. Itâd be simple for me to dig around and find out all kinds of unsavory things youâve done.
âYou can get rid of all the witnesses to try and erase your dark past, but you canât erase your character flaws.
âHave you forgotten what you did in that underground bar?â
