The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 1279 Margaret glanced over and, to her surprise, saw a little kid coming down the stairs. She was startled by the sight of him standing up along the railing. She exclaimed, âOh my! Little rascal, what are you up to?
Werenât you playing with toy planes? When did you come down? If anything happens, how would I explain to Mr. Jardin and Ms. Jent?â
Kai looked at the child and noticed he was also looking at him with clear eyes. However, he could tell at a glance that this child was far from simple. Despite being so young, there was mischief in those little eyes.
Just then, Dalton held a photo and babbled unclear words to Kai. Margaret had been with him for a while and understood his temperament. Seeing this behavior, she knew something was up and brought Dalton to Kai. She said, âDalton seems to like you. We rarely have outsiders at home, so seeing you is a novelty for him. Dalton, this is your uncle. Say âuncleâ.â
Kai raised his eyebrow and asked, âHe can talk now?â
Margaret proudly exclaimed, âOh my! This kid is like a prodigy. Heâs incredibly smart. Whatever I teach him, he learns in no time. Itâs just that heâs still young.â
Kai said without hiding anything, âI can see heâs got a lot on his mind even though heâs young.â
Dalton extended his hands, making baby sounds, wanting Kai to hold him. Margaret remarked, âThis child rarely lets anyone pick him up. Except for me, he usually doesnât let anyone get close.â
Kai reached out and held Dalton. âLetâs talk upstairs.â
In the room, Kai took the photo from Daltonâs hands, and all he saw was Madelyn. He asked, âMiss your mom?â
Dalton nodded with drool dripping. âEe.
Kai reassuringly said, âYour mom is far away right now and wonât be back for a while. You have to wait for your dad to return, and your mom will tag along, too. Youâre becoming more and more like that rascal Zach now that youâre growing up. If it werenât for knowing that he adopted you, I might have thought you were his illegitimate child born from some affair outside.â
Margaret clapped her hands. âIsnât it? Dalton will be going to kindergarten in a year or two, and Mr.
Jardin and Ms. Jent left without a definite plan. We donât know when theyâll be back. Dr. Stewart, whatâs going on?â
Kai said, âItâs not a big deal. Maddie didnât want to stay here, so I sent her away. Zach got a minor injury, but heâs probably waking up soon. I just received a message that someone intends harm toward you all. Pack your things, and Iâll secretly take you away later.â
Margaret immediately refused. âN-No. Mr. Jardin told me long ago not to leave here no matter what the reason is.â As she spoke, she cautiously held the child over.
Kai squinted his eyes and asked, âWhen did he tell you, and what else did he say?
Margaret was at a loss of words.
